OPENING STUFF
Prez Tom introduced Bekah, who led us in the pledge followed by the Howard Wood Quartet (Randy, MaryAlice and Greg) “harmonized” to Let There be Peace on Earth in honor of MLK Day [and Smile in honor of The Fullerton Rotary Club meeting day]. The Reverend Leroy provided the thought for the day and invocation.
Introductions were Savagely handled by Bob, who again called on the Rev. Leroy to introduce Ambassadorial Scholar Young Kang; Vern Andrews to introduce Marv Ewing, an old Hughes aircraft team mate; Rick Crane who introduced Alan Mintz, the new owner of the Orange County Flyers [of Fullerton]; Scott Dowds who introduced Paula Young, the new F&M manager in Santa Ana; Councilman Don [why should I read my mail[?] who introduced Dr. Koo Oh, long time Fullerton dentist; and Dan Stockwell and Keith Mills who introduced their respective spouses, Jeanie and Ann.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Rick Crane reminded us of the Rotary Night at a CSUF Titan’s Women’s Basketball, Thursday, February 7th at 6:00 p.m. Don Ludwig told us we should read our statements and pay them promptly – actually he was much more diplomatic than that, those are my words. Also, in order to assure that you get proper credit for charitable deductions and the Foundation can satisfy IRS requirements, it is strongly requested that you prepare two separate checks when you pay the bill – one in the amount of the amount that you billed for the Community Investment donation and a second check for the balance of your quarterly statement for chow and such. Kenneth, the red-nosed psychologist, advised “Never Have Too Much Fun.” Chief and Prez Elect-Elect Pat hyped the Friday, April 11th “Fab Four” concert at the Phoenix Club, with adult beverages available. There are a limited number of VIP tables for ten, priced at $2,000, which will be booked quickly. Call Rick Price if you want to reserve one. Sales to the non-VIPs shall commence in two weeks for the dinner and concert.

PROGRAM
Jay Kremer introduced Karen Cornell, who spoke to us about the history and mission of the TUCKER WILDLIFE SANCTUARY. Originally settled in 1916 by Farmer’s & Merchant’s bank executive Tucker [that got Scott’s attention], donated to the Audobon in 1941 and transferred to Cal State Fullerton [Yea] in 1968, the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary is a 12-acre non-profit nature preserve, located in the heart of Modjeska Canyon adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest. It is operated by CSUF’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. In addition to serving as a research center for Cal State Fullerton students, faculty and others, Tucker is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays – FREE - to enjoy and learn about the local wildlife and natural habitat in the Southern California canyon area. Tucker's facilities include a small natural history museum/interpretive center, two ponds, a bird observation porch and feeders, relaxing patio and picnic areas, a small amphitheater, a caretaker's house, hiking trails, a gift shop, restrooms and an ample visitor parking lot. To learn more, including hours and directions, go to www.tuckerwildlife.org or call them at (714) 649-2760.
