Prez Tom brought the meeting to order and welcomed all Rotarians and asked Dick Daybell to lead the pledge of allegiance, and then Howard Wood led the assemblage in song accompanied by Don Ludwig and his piano. Bernie Dunlap gave the invocation.
Jeff Hutchison introduced guests that included Kimberly Nguyen DDS (Rick Crane), Mark McCormick, Elroy Pankow, Kirk Mackie and Allen Cooper (Jay Kremer), Terri Christiansen (John Christiansen), Jenny Stewart (Ray Hansen), Ken Kalina (Lee Myhre), Lee Lavner (Jim Young), and Colleen Townsend-Thomas (Minard Duncan).
Announcements: Fred Johnson announced the 34th annual auction at the Boys and Girls Club. There is an opportunity to donate an auction item or a raffle prize. If you have anything to donate contact Fred or Bob Jahncke.
Bob Jahncke again announced that he is editing the membership roster, and that there is space for cell phone numbers in the directory. If you would like your cell phone number included in the directory or would like to edit your entry please let Bob know.
Howard Wood has tickets to the Harmony Under the Stars concert sponsored by the Orange Empire Chorus. A group rate is available.
Walt Barnes is forming a committee for this years Sock Hop. Walt said that last years dance was “really bitchin” and that he wants to form a committee to come up with more ideas for another successful Sock Hop.
Greg Hickman has a really groovy movie ready to run at his next Movie Night scheduled for September 21st.

Recognition: Minard Duncan borrowed liberally from Bob Newhart with his turn as recognition master this week. John Phelps was awarded a pair of long pants (maybe he’ll get the hint!). Greg Hickman was recognized for his 29th anniversary with wife Roxanne. Dick Daybell celebrates another anniversary with his best fishing buddy Lois this week. Allyn Lean admitted that his wife Nancy did not marry him for his money! They celebrate their anniversary Friday. Keith Mills announced that his wife Ann actually did marry him for his money as well as his “leading man” good looks. They celebrated their 48th anniversary last week. Minard Duncan is still waiting for maturity but will celebrate his 75th birthday this week (if he remembers); Tony Amato shared his secret for good looks and great hair and celebrates his 80th birthday this week.
Warren Wimer held the winning ticket but picked the losing card. His $10 consolation prize was donated by Pat Frank.
Auctioneer Mark Mc Gee donated four Angel tickets and created a heated contest between Angel fans. Walt Barnes hung in there and paid $250 for the winning bid. Mark donated the proceeds to the Rotary Foundation.
Program
Walt White is a consultant with the International Ministry and the Baptist Church. He has spent many years living in Muslim countries and helps people to understand the Islamic mindset. With a small amount of humor he made a very effective and informative presentation.
