President Greg Announces his Departure

Prez Greg called the meeting to order at the appointed time and called upon himself to lead the club in the flag salute. Leroy Fulton along with Ray Ashcroft, Howard Wood, Bob Savage and Janie Noppe as song leaders lead the club in God Bless America, followed by Smile accompanied as always by Don Ludwig on trombone.

Prez Greg again called upon himself to give the Thought for the Day, which concluded with .....The man who thinks he can!

Jim Williams Introduced Visiting Rotarians and guests that included. Cerritos Rotary Club President Ernie Delfin, Kathy Ikola (Mc Cune), Lucinda Evans, (Diane Masseth Jones), Michael La (Kang), Mark Simmons (Tormey), Jay Kremen (Duncan), and Jean Fulton (Leroy Fulton).

Announcements:

Leroy Fulton announced his 53rd Wedding Anniversary with wife Jean on Sept. 9th.

There will be a meeting of the Newest Nine (You know who you are!) at 7:30 AM Sept 21st at Carrows on the corner of Harbor and Brea Blvd.

Julianne Haynes is soliciting sponsorships for her 60 mile, 3 day walk for Breast Cancer that is coming up soon.

Anyone interested in helping with the arrangement of Fellowship dinners should call David Schoen.

Opportunity Drawing: Won by Harry Brown who knew the correct answer to Prez. Greg’s Question: Which month are the most babies born. Answer: September.

HIPPA privacy regulations prevented any member with a hospital affiliation to reveal the name of any patient who might be Fullerton Rotary Club members. Non-hospital affiliates revealed that Alan Atwell is recovering from a 5-way heart bypass; Pat McKinely is also hospitalized, as well as Ron Soderquist. Cards are always appreciated during recovery.

Program:

Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher

Leroy Fulton introduced 77th District Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher from Brea who told a few anecdotes of her freshman year in hardball politics on the Assembly floor before she got serious and explained the surprising ins and outs and negotiations and eventual honor involved in partisan politics in Sacramento.

Assemblywoman Lynn goes to bat for her district (our communities). She seems to be a steady navigator of the system and is gaining quite a reputation in Sacramento.

Prez Greg announced that he has taken a career opportunity that will take him to Glendale and will not be able to complete his turn as Club President. The Board of Directors will be this week to decide what to do about filling the office of Club President. Greg will preside over one more meeting (Sept 15th). All effort should be expended to make this a well-attended meeting to show Prez Greg how much we enjoyed his short tenure.

Proposed New Members:
Jay Kremer, Civil Engineer, Retired, by Minard Duncan
Michael La, Real Estate, Commercial Properties, by Daniel Kang
