Rota-Scribe: Lelie McCarthy

President Bill welcomed us all to his Octoberfest OOM PAHH meeting at 12:15. Joyce Capelle lead us in the flag salute and Don Ludwig and the Dulcet-Tone Duncan Quartet helped us with America the Beautiful and Smile. The thought for the day began with the question, Why am I here?? David Schoen gave us two great reasons. The first is God created each of us for a specific purpose; and the second - Life is our training ground for eternity.. Thank you David. President Bill also extended great thanks to Charlie from Arbor Manor for the treats we had for the meal and at our tables.

Visitors:

Rotarians visiting included Walter Barnes from Kauai, Ted Russell from Placentia and Dick Boyle from Fullerton South. We also were graced with a visit from Bob Radde's wife Gloria and Cameron McCune invited Kevin Bass from the School Board.

Recognition and Fines by Nate Kvetny

Franki Berry, David Schoen and Winston Creel were all asked to stand and be recognized for their birthdays. This was after Nate himself was fined $10, no $100 for missing the meeting last week. In a true demonstration of the 4 Way Test he admitted he just forgot. Asking an honest, compassionate and fair attorney Phil Silverman what the birthday recognitions should cost our three members, Phil said $10. Nate not happy with that amount called for a side bar and Phil upped the fine to $100 each. Nate promptly levied the fine in its entirety to Phil. See what happens to fine, honest, compassionate and fair attorneys!

Raffle

Al Tetrault was the lucky ticket holder for todayys easiest raffle questions. Jana was to provide the consolation prize and the winning Foundation Raffle ticket was to be the prize for correctly answering President Billls easy questions. The questions:: Which animal provides cat gut?? and In which month was the Russianns October Revolt?? The answers were cows, sheep and November. Al actually got November correct and was given a Foundation ticket that was a questionable winner.

Program

Carl Wilkins introduced us to the man behind Tony the Tigerrs voice. Theral Ravenscroft went from being a Nebraska farm boy to one of the most recognized voices in radio and tv because of some very good advice he received from his father. Along the way he was a studio singer for Paramount, bass singer for the Country Church of Hollywood, a member of the Paul Taylor Chorus, a founding member of the Sportsmen Quartet, flew for Air Transport Command in WW2, with the privilege of flying Winston Churchill to Algiers. After the war he quit the military and went back to Hollywood. There he sang for Edgar Bergman and in 1951 became the voice for Tony the Tiger. He works at Disney still and does various voices.

Next Week Car Show

P.S. How long did it take for everyone to realize that the beer was available in an unlimited supply?? They refilled our table twice.
