FULLERTON POLICE CHIEF AND ROTARIAN Pat McKinley relates his experiences and the lessons learned from a career in Law Enforcement. He discusses the problems of Police Corruption that sometimes tarnishes the men and women police officers of large organizations and how this can be dealt with. More under PROGRAM. |
Following the pledge by John Kunau, "The Ides of March Trio", Jim B,, Howard W, and welcome newcomer Janie Noppe, resplendent in her BSA uniform and good voice issued forth with the classic Club music openings. (Accompanist Don Ludwig doesn't even need sheet music for these. He knocks them out by ear!) Jo Brannock gave a unique "Thought for the Day" in hailing the privileges we have in living in Fullerton, "The Education Community". It was originally dubbed so because it has FIVE universities and colleges within a one mile radius, all in one ZIP Zone, 55,000 post secondary students in daily attendance and one can go from day care center all the way to doctorate on foot. Now there are SIX with the addition of a USC satellite campus at FUHS. (Didn't know that, did you!) Tony Lagomarsino presided over the guests and visitors introductions.

Rotary Announcements;

MARITAL QUOTE OF THE DAY: "What is the secret of a successful marriage? "A Tolerant wife." (John Christensen on a solo vacation in Costa Rica should know!) Chet Schultz picked the gold ball and won. Luck of the Germans!
Chief McKinley drew on his extensive experience in the LAPD to tell of some of the incredible stories of police officers gone wrong. It generally starts with small crimes -- skimming of confiscated goods following a arrest. There is a team that is proactive to spot potential problems, Such as an inconsistent life style such as behavior following a divorce. Lessons learned: close supervision by administration at all levels, and careful screening of applicants. A close knit physical plant such as the new police building underway in Fullerton should be a big help for us. We are blessed and fortunate to have a leader like CHIEF PAT. |
