Howard Wood, Bill Peloquin, Ray Ashcroft and Jim Young joined an animated Griff Duncan and Don Ludwig in leading the club in God Bless America followed by SMILE. Bob Radde led the club in the pledge of allegiance. Joyce Capelle gave the thought for the day reminding was a great country allows such diversity of thought and opinion and asked us to remember all those in uniform and pray for their safety and speedy return. Rotarians and Guests: Lee Myhre introduced visiting Rotarians that included: Frank Stroobant-Big Bear Lake, Dick Boyle-Fullerton South, Dexter Savage-Fullerton South and Tom Ortiz and Kathleen O'Neil- Yorba Linda Sunrise. Ray Hansen introduced his guests who included his wife Nancy, brother and sister-in-law Bob and Lynne Hansen, and his St. Jude Associate CaryTakamra.. Mike Escalante introduced his guest Harold Sullivan, Pat McKinley introduced Carolyn Milligan, Tom Meyer introduced Craig Walker, Winston Creel introduced Dennis OOConner, and last but not least Dave Merrihugh, a long time Rotarian from West Lake Village and now a Fullerton resident introduced himself (a guest looking for a sponsor!) Announcements: Carl Camp made the club more aware of the Fullerton Rotary Club Foundation and explained how their endowment grows and how it is dispersed. Rick Crane on Rotary Day at Titan Stadium on Sunday the 23rd. Mike Oates will through out the first ball (or strike.....weell have a report next week). A bus will leave for Laughlin on May 2nd for the District Conference.. See Mike Oates for a ticket. JIM THOMPSON WANTS US!!! Jim needs volunteers for the TRACK MEET March 29th.... And just as importantly needs volunteers for Sunny Hills High School Top 100 banquet March 26 and Fullerton High School Top 100 banquet on April 2. |
Dexter Savage and Fullerton South has extended an invitation for children and grandchildren of Rotarians to apply for the Youth Exchange Program in Japan... See Jim Williams for details. Dick Glaus has been admitted to St. Jude hospital. More information next week Al 'T completed his newest nine duties and was properly de-tagged of his blue ribbon. Dennis Ullrich was lucky enough to have the right ticket but not lucky enough to win the money... His consolation prize was courtesy of Carl Wilkins. Recognition: We hate to see Dan Kiernan in a bad mood! Finemaster Dan went over the top and fined anyone and everyone for ANYTHING!! His most memorable fine was to Mark Zane.. Dan fined Mark 50 bucks for not being at the meeting!! More traditional recognitions were Ray Hansen for Nancy's birthday and Jo Mc Aulay for her birthday. Carl Camp presided over the induction of two new members to Fullerton Rotary.. Art Levine (who found that Fullerton Rotary Club is the best club, after all!), and Fred Johnson, who, due to his unplanned absence will be duly inducted at the next opportunity.
Ray Hansen introduced Clyde Shreve who recently wrote a book of oral history for the benefit of his ancestors that chronicled his interesting life from the early pre-depression days in Buena Park, to his participation in the B-29 bombing mission in Japan on August 6, 1945. |
