Let the Pageant Begin Janie Noppe led us in the Pledge of Allegiance Excellent singing was led by Griff Duncan and the crew. Jeff Hutchison honored Rotary for the difference it had made in his family. The late Jim Shook, Warren Wimer, Chuck Munson and Dave Bates were especially noted. It was a fine thought for the day. Opportunity and Recognitions In a double stroke of largely undeserved good fortune, Dick Rocke had the right ticket and threw a seven to win $40. let's go back to the dumb questions!!! The Bounty Hunter of the Bronx- Dan Kiernan recognized several rather generous Rotarians Jon West - Marcia's B'day and an elongated announcement (short for the Rev, but long for anyone else, except Vern Andrews) Dick Boyle for blatant commercialization's of another club's event 4/4 food and wine in the Arboretum at Cal State Fullerton!!!!!!!!! Dean Heiser for being rude to the Bounty hunter from the Bronx (hardly a an unusual or inexcusable act) Al Tetreault - Pam's B'day Miss Fullerton Scholarship Program President Mike is nearly always in the company of beautiful, talented and charming women, and today was no exception. After a hiatus of 20 years, the C of C and other sponsors are re-instituting the Miss Fullerton Pageant. The director of the 4/22 event is Kathi Hikawa, who explained that this Fullerton event is a qualifying event for the Miss California and Miss America events. The latter involves over 300,000 persons as volunteers, officials, sponsors, etc. Scholarships, career opportunities and community service are among the goals of the program. Three of the dozen or so contestants were in attendance today. These young women and their "platforms" are: Each of these delightful young persons spoke about her platform and why she had selected that cause/topic. Additional sponsors to the Miss Fullerton Scholarship Program are welcome. Next Week Craft talks by Jim McKamy and Al Tetreault. Neither of these is eligible for the Miss Fullerton program! |
