Program - Craft Talks
With costumes and props, Larry Larson shared many stories of growing up on a farm in West Central Minnesota. He still owns the farm today which includes a log cabin built in 1890. He attended Concordia College and played football there (including winning the Camellia Bowl). Larry spent 30 years in the Air Force and lived in over 15 different locations including Belgium. A devoted family man, he is married to wife Joanne, has twin children - a son who is an Air Force Academy grad and a daughter. Larry is also a devoted grandpa to his granddaughter. In his work as a financial planner, Larry is able to recall his humble upbringings and takes special care with each client.
Also, raised on a farm, was Amy Kluth but in a small town on the coast of Oregon. Amy's father was a chief on the local Indian council. Amy was an overachiever early on and received her AA degree along with her high school diploma. She passed the Civil Service exam with near perfect scores and took a job in Washington, D. C. with a U.S. District Attorney. In Washington, she met her husband, a Marine and had two children, Stacy (a music teacher in San Diego) and Raymond (a fitness trainer in OC). Amy was very involved on the military bases they were stationed at and pioneered several programs. She was named Military Wife of the Year and had her award presented by Art Linkletter at the White House. After 10 years of severe domestic abuse, Amy fought back (literally) and left her husband, taking the kids to California. For 25 years, she has made a career in non-profit organizations such as the YMCA and the American Cancer Society. Currently, she is Director of Alumni Services and the Foundation at Western State (and Board President of the YWCA!).
