Fullerton Planning Commission Chairman, Rick Crane led the Pledge of Allegiance this bright and sunny afternoon, followed by a nearly solo performance of the singing big wheel Griff Duncan (Prez Bill and his guest Howard Wood hastily filled out the harmony for the Wheels).

Nate Kvetny sang the thought for the day.  His lovely rendition of the old standard "These are a few of my favorite things" with contemporary lyrics charmed the audience. (Kudo's to Griff, for those who actually witnessed the performance).

John Phelps introduced the lone visiting Rotarian from on high, Bob McNutt (Former good-guy member and current Big Bear resident and Member).  Also visiting today were Al "T" Teteault (Jana Bogart), Bobbi Robinson (Sandy Fryling), Fantastic Singer Howard Ward (Doc Peloquin), Dick Glaus (Ray Hanson), Jim McKamy (Wally Bartelt), and Paul Thompson (Father in Law David Schoen).

Prez Bill bestowed belated Rotarian of the Week honors on Ray Hansen for his fine salesmanship efforts for the Davis Gaines Concert. Prez Bill will bestow belated honors on Bob Clark Jr. next week, as Bob Jr. was this week's Rotarian of the Week.

Prez Bill also awarded Chris Fraschetti and Amy Kluth with Regal Eagles for bringing in new members recently.

Lucky ticket holder Dennis Ullrich set a speed record for correctly answering Prez Bill's question this week.  He correctly answered that today was the fiftieth anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's ascension to the thrown on England.

CSUF Room Dedication and International President Visit (reported by Buck Catlin)

(Click for Pictorial Report)

On Friday February 1, 2002, members of the Rotary Club of Fullerton assembled at the CSUF Library to dedicate a room in its name. President Bill Peloquin presided. This had its genesis in the foresight of Dr. Jim Young, Professor Emeritus of CSUF and founder of the University's Drama Department. Jim, AKA "Paul Harris" with the able financial fund raising effort of Warren Wimer, raised the $25,000 necessary for the CSUF Foundation Board to adopt the project. Well over that amount was subscribed .

At the ceremonies, Rotary International President Rick King officially dedicated the Room. In attendance were dignitaries Rod Ide, District 5320 Governor, Dan Mooers, and Floyd Olson, Rotary International Board Members. Accepting the Rotary dedication for the University was Head Librarian Richard Pollard. Fullerton Rotarian Jack Hayes displayed his design creation of a special Rotary Display Case which will be mounted at the entrance of the room.

As a special action, President Bill Peloquin announced that the Rotary Club of Fullerton Board had resolved that the room will be titled, "The Dr. James D. Young Rotary Room".
