Board of Directors Meeting Minutes for Meeting of January 14, 2003

Present: Grassi, Hansen, Kawase, Jahncke, Jones, Mathy, Meyer, Myhre, Oates, Peloquin, Cathy Gach, and Savage

Minutes Approved; Next Board Meeting, February 11^th

Agreed to send invitation to join letter to Dale Hardner.

Savage, Club Service Membership: 36% Attendance in December. 132 members with the 2 new members last week.

Grassi, Club Service-Fellowship: Whale watch trip was a success. 53 signed up 44 showed up. Planning to do a “Afternoon at the Races” in Santa Anita.

Meyer, Community Service: Before next Wednesdays meeting, Rick Crane is meeting with the Community Investment Committee, regarding charitable awards.

Dowds, Community Service Youth: Speech Contest, Jan 29; Vocal Contes end of Feb; Top 100 evenings: March 26 SHHS, April 2 FUHS

Jones, International Service: Leave tomorrow morning - 6:00 am, Wally, Jeff, and myself to pick up 1 or 2 from the Oceanside club, head to the orphanage, and review the problems, and needs of the orphanage to select a project.

Old Business: Drink Coaster has been designed to allow testing for bad drinks. For $4000 the combined 3 Rotary club will have these coasters distributed to help alleviate “Date Rape” drugs.

New Business: Minard Duncan brought a need to help with expenses for a dental clinic at Richman School on January 25^th ; about 90 kids are helped; Doctors donate time and equipment; The group needs $800 for materials. The 20-30's club is no more, and this has been their project. Proposed and accepted by the board to help the project with the needed $800.

Demotion Night on 6/25, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
