Board of Directors Meeting Minutes for Meeting of December 10, 2002 |
Present: Jones, Dowds, Oates, Hansen, Savage, Grassi, Mathy, Fraschetti, Myhre,
Peloquin, Kawase, McKinley

Minutes Approved with the addition of Mathy as present and election date changed to 1/8/03
Kawase, Treasurer Report: Have $69,000 in checking account/$30,000 to be transferred to savings. Balance should get us through most of the year.
Oates, President’s report- Dale Hardner presented to board as prospective new member. Discussion followed. Board approved pending publication.
Discussion regarding publishing new prospective member names. Has not been done consistently. Need to be sure names are published twice.
Phil Strauss on LOA as of 1/1/03.
Savage, Club Service-Membership: Nov attendance was 60.92%. This is an improvement
Discussion followed about some members not being able to hear at meetings, either due to others talking or hearing problems (ie: Dick Hopping). President will try to keep members quiet during meeting so that all members will be able to hear and not lose interest in the club. Art Levine wants to return to our club. Chris Hunt has resigned.
Grassi, Club Service-Fellowship: Family Christmas party is 12/18. 50 spots reserved for whale watching trip on 1/11/03. Was contacted by Santa Anita Racetrack to do an outing at their facility. Board wants to pursue an event in April. Grassi to visit facilities to determine which package is best for the club.
Dowds, Community Service-Youth: Discussion to approve at least 8 students for RYLA, possibly more.
Jones, International Service-Group from our club to go to Mexican orphanage in Jan to check out opportunities for a project. If interested, our club can also participate in food drives/clothing drives through a local church.
Old Business: Just a few weeks left to sign up for Rotary license plates.
Poker tournament raised $640 for polio. May do another one.
New business: Elections 1/8/03. Immediate past president heads committee.
Letter to Bhichai inviting him to Feb club meeting. If he accepts, it will be third RI Pres to visit!
Pat McKinley presented police project to assist women in checking drinks for presence of “date rape” drugs. Coasters have 2 spots to test drink for drugs. Plan is to print 10,000 at cost of $0.40 each, ($4,000). Can print Rotary emblem on them. Distribute them to women at local colleges/bars. McKinley is presenting to all 3 Fullerton clubs. Presidents to meet to discuss appropriate action. It was moved by Peloquin and seconded by Fraschetti, to support this project no matter what other clubs do.
