Board of Directors Meeting Minutes for Meeting of March 5, 2002 |
Present: Bartelt, Franklin, Fraschetti, Grassi, Hansen, Jahncke, Jones, Kincaid, Oates, and Peloquin.
Bob Jahncke, Secretary’s Report: Minutes approved with 1 minor correction.
Bill Kincaid, Treasurer’s Report: $58k in checking; $6,300 in mm; Total $64,300. Topic for consideration is how much to allocate for Charitable donations. Last year we had $14,000 more available at this time, but we are allowing members to contribute for 1 additional quarter this year - i.e., we may get the money. Board approved to spend $26-$27,000 for charitable donations, with the possibility of an increase later.
Terri Grassi, Club Service, Fellowship: Fellowship dinners are in process.
Getty trip is tentively set for Saturday, May 4. Need to schedule bus; cost to be approximately $600 - a trip with 45 or so will cost less than $15 per person.
San Juan Capistrano - a concert on July 20 titled “Brazil - Brazil” which is not entirely Latin music would cost approx $150 per table of 10. Transportation could be by bus - but need to have approx 40-50; Train is available.
For the Annual Family Day Picnic, Terri found a baseball diamond & park across the road from Clark Regional Park, on Rosecrans. Expensive - $500, plus food, and security guard. Baseball diamond is NOT regulation. Parking is limited to 60 vehicles - pay parking across the street ($4).
Bob Savage, Club Service, Membership: (Oates reporting)
Conversation with Mickey Cheng - he expects another year of non-attendance. We are to write a letter requesting a final payment, and resignation, inviting him to re-join Rotary when his lunch plans can include us. Raj Singh has found that Rotary is not what he expected. Similiar letter to Raj.

Al Tetreault, Jr, works for Ford agency; proposed by Jana Bogart.
Drew Napolin, Insurance; proposed by Winston Creel.
Howard Wood, Retired Mechanical Engineer; proposed by Bill Peloquin.
Gregg Franklin, Youth Service: Top 100 for FUHS is set for next Thursday, March 14; sign-up list for specific tasks to be presented to the club for participation. Due to Passover conflict, SHHS Top 100 has been re-scheduled to April 18.
Track meet is set for March 30.
Chris Fraschetti, International Service:
Re: Mexican House project: April 19-20 is currently scheduled to be the time. Amor Industries gave us an estimate of costs: Cost of $2400, plus the slab for $200 for a single unit. We need 18 to 20 people to make it work. They will require a $100 deposit.
A Sister Club proposal was presented from India Rotary Clubs; we.need to solicit participation from our membership.
A Mexico City Rotary club is presenting a program to present a Latin program about Mexico. They are looking for $2,400 to sponsor the event, plus a venue to present the event to 600-1,000 people. Further discussion with school district to see if there is any interest.
Claude Jones, Vocational Service: All projects are under control.
