Minutes approved as presented.

Kincaid, Treasurer’s Report: $41,200 in money market; $36,600 in checking for a total of $77,800.

Request to pay the $600.93 for dinner at the Balboa Yacht club; dinner was for the “kick-off” for the CSUF Library Rotary room. $2,200 was raised at the event.

Terri Grassi: Club Service, Fellowship: 30 people to go to the cruise of lights in Huntington Harbor; 10 signed up for dinner.

Bob Savage: Club Service, Membership: 60.42% attendance. The usual members were missing all meetings. Current membership is at 138, at plus 4. 3 more to be3 brought in after the 1st, for a total of plus 7.

Letters to be sent: One to those with less than 60% attendance; another to those under 30%, and a third to those attendance excused members.

New Members presented: Cameron McCune, & Dr Jo Ann Brannock; Marriage and child psychologist with private practice; Instructor at FC.

Winston Creel: Community Service General: Sold $20,000 in tickets. Sold $500 of the balcony tickets; expects to $1,500 expected to collect on the balcony. Escalante will forgive the auditorium expense.

Dick Mattewson: Reading by Nine. Dick explained that 4 programs from the foundation-granting program had been applied for and not funded. These are very real programs prepared by teachers to help the children at 4 different schools.

Reading-by-nine is too late for this year. The advantage of the Reading-by-Nine program is the leverage: our $500 donation was to be matched with funds from LA5, then the $1,000 was then used through the LA Times to purchase books fro low prices. The board approved that all 4 programs be supported for $4,121, and that the board ask the Fullerton Rotary Foundation to fund the project since they are looking for projects like this to benefit the Fullerton Community.

Greg Franklin:Youth Service: Dates are set for speech and song contests; Top 100 benefit dinners are set on the calendar. Need to let Sunny Hills know that the long program is NOT to be done this year.

Chris Fraschetti: International Service: Jeff Hutchison has verbalized the difficulty of crossing the border at this time. Leroy Fulton noted that Amor Industries seems to be able to expedite border industries. Leroy to follow details with Amor.

Chris checked Rotary web sites in Mexico. Moreila does not have a Web site; St Jude has a connection with Guadalajara – with several doctors participating by donating time, if we wanted to join by supporting material or money. A request for support to supply solar ovens to Afghanistan – a $300 donation would help purchase a $10,000 oven that is solar powered with an auxiliary propone heater.

Mexican house project would cost $1,500-$2,000.

RI offers matching funds for worthwhile projects; requests for these need to be made early in the year.

Claud Jones: Community Service General: Mark Zane will do the Vocational awards again. Jo McAully did a great job on the Fellowship Lunches. Had such success with this function, we might cosider a spring repeat. Claude mentioned that the preliminary work is in order, and a 2nd go around would not be difficult.

Hansen commented that George Klimpel voiced frustration that the club has not kept contact with him. Ray Hansen to keep Debra Koff informed. Another member is Hilton Dalaessi, and Claud Sympson.

Prez Peloquin noted that RI is still looking for hosts for District Governors visiting this spring for the conference in Anaheim. The host would house and entertain the visitor for 3 days.
