President Mike Cochran opened with a reminder that Valentine’s day is around the corner and Our Fullerton’s Got Talent Show is on 2/23/2020 Sunday. It’s not too late to ask a friend to go with you to the show! President Mike then proceeded with his famous weekly Trivia’s. One of such Trivia informed us that in 1941 Ernest Chain and Howard Walter Flore who developed the antibiotic conducted the first injection of penicillin into a human test subject. The Pledge was led by Dan Ouweleen followed by a lovely invocation by Glynnes Speak. Guests Recognition:
Rotary Announcements Ken Kaisch gave a brief overview of his time at the PETS conference (conference dedicated to train incoming presidents). He was inspired by his experience at the conference and wishes to go back sometime in the future. Dan Ouweleen announced that there is a trainer opportunity for the upcoming RYLA event on Feb 22 and Mar 7. If anyone is interested to become a trainer or to help at a RYLA event please ask Dan for more details. Jim Williams made a reminder announcement that for everyone attending the Fullerton’s Got Talent Event please let Jim know of your dinner restaurant selection as there is a $30 voucher included with your ticket to be collected at the door of the main event. Rotarians are responsible for making their own dinner reservations at the designated restaurants. If you have any questions please contact Jim. Miko Krisvoy announced that the Top 100 events are 3/19 for Sunny Hills High School and 4/9 for Fullerton High School Event will be held at the community center at 5:30pm this is our 60th anniversary of the top 100 event. Thank you everyone for all these years of dedication and a special Thank you Miko for the wonderful Job she does year after year! Zoot Velasco announced that 4/15/2020 at 5pm our Rotaract club of Cal State Fullerton’s is putting on a Farm to table dinner to support students suffering from homelessness. Please come out to support our Rotaracters! Tickets are $100/ person. Cathy Gach announced that The Fullerton Union High School Academy of the Arts is putting together the play Matilda at the Plummer Auditorium on March 13,14(12pm),19 and 20th at 7pm Rick Crane reminded us that the track meet is on March 7th this year! Recognition master today is Howard Minkley. He tested everyone’s Valentine’s day trivia knowledge and fined everyone who didn’t send out a valentine’s day card. Special Recognition for Roy Harvill who’s been on our Rotary Roster for 69 years! Happy 1st Rotary Anniversary to Leland Wilson! Happy wedding Anniversary to Brett Ackerman. Special Program was brought to us today by NCAA referee Chris Coyte. Chris started his Career back in 2004. He gave an informative and interesting insight into his duties, challenges and victories as a referee in the national stage! He also showed us a clip of his Coin toss at the national championship!
