Mike Cochran opened the meeting with a big thank you to all who planned, organized and attended the very successful ‘Fullerton has GotTalent’ event. Club News, Bill Gorman has submitted his resignation from the club. Bill, a long time member pledges he will remain a Rotarian in his heart, but will no longer be attending club meetings. He has just turned 84 and will be expanding his business. Mike also brought us up to date on things and happenings in our world
Thad Sandford led us in the Pledge of allegiance to the U.S. Pastor Paula Ferris led the prayerful thought for the day. Our Guests for the day included Derik Dahlke, who is boss of and guest of Baily Kline; Chuck Ensey, guest of Marty Burbank; and Kuba Sitak, our speaker for the day. Announcements: Rick Crane announced that the annual city track meet will be held on 7 March at the Fullerton High stadium, set up will begin at 7:30 am. He is still looking for volunteers for set up and tear down. Robert Jahncke announced that he is updating the club roster and asked for everyone to look at the current roster as it circulates and make any needed updates. Sandi Hayes announced that the memorial services for long time member Bob Maxwell is pending and will be announced shortly. Miko Krisvoy announced that the first Top 100 recognition dinner for the High School students will be on 18 March. She is looking for volunteers to help with set up beginning at 4:15 and clean up at 8:15. She also promised a bit of wine for those who help. Brett Ackerman led the recognitions. While none of the folks with birthdays or anniversaries were present, Brett entertained the group with recognition of those who worked on the ‘Fullerton has got Talent’ event and fined those sitting next to the volunteers. He then fined everyone who had not been fined in the last month. Our Speaker for the day was Kuba Sitak. Kuba was a Rotary youth Exchange student from Poland, who finished high school in Truckee Ca. After his experience with Rotary and as an exchange student he moved to California. He currently teaches advanced skateboarding and snowboarding. He gave a very interesting talk on his background in Poland and the experience and opportunity that Rotary made available to him. He also showed some fantastic pictures of his snowboarding skills. He pointed out that the Rotary Youth Exchange program currently includes about 9,000 students per year as a huge international exchange program. Kuba is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Newport Balboa.
