Volume 74 Issue39 Rota-Scribe: Wolf Knabe

Welcome back Prez Bill! The Prez explained his brief absence and we are thrilled to have him back, even though he reminds us that he only has “9 weeks” left.

The meeting started off with the pledge by Lynette Geiss and the invocation by Randy McFarland. Theresa Harvey was our song master and she led us in “My Country Tis of Thee” and “Smile”. Our performance was much better than last week.

Prez Bill welcomed our “newest nine” member, Mike Cochran. Welcome Mike!

Guests today included one of our presenters, Christine Chow, and Wilma Peloquin wife of Bill Peloquin

Prez Bill announced our “Rotarian of the Month”, Joe Arnold. Congrats to Joe, well-deserved! Prez Bill also welcomed our new member,

Andre Fahie
our newest member
Andre Fahie, from the Boy Scouts of America. We are pleased to have him aboard.

Rotary International Global Grants Program provided $39,000 in disease protection and treatment in India. Thanks to Vimal Seth for all he did to make this happen.

Announcements included:

• Community Breakfast with Rex Hudler on Saturday, April 11th at 10 am, 404 W Wilshire Ave. Get tickets www.clcfullerton.com

• There are still people needed to help serve food at the Sunny Hills HS Top 100 event on 4/23.

• Rota Actors will be performing on 4/11, 8 am at Loyola Marymount University during the Ethics Quorum

• Fullerton Rotary Main Facebook page needs an administrator/manager

• Fullerton Sunrise Rotary will be having their 2015 Western Gala on Friday 5/15. Tickets are $65

Prez Bill called out the lottery ticket winner and Howard, had the ticket. This time he actually won the money and took home $300.

The Fine Master was Scott Dowds and he did a great job. Many were fined, including:

Minard Duncan for his wife’s birthday on 4/9., Jay Kremer for his own birthday on 4/10, he will be 83! Rick Crane for his wife’s birthday on 4/11. Randy McFarland for his 4 year anniversary on 4/10. Bill Hite for his 34th anniversary on 4/11.

Other people fined, included; Brett Ackerman for his high scoring performance at a recent Boys and Girls golf tournament. Vern Andrews for beating Kentucky but losing the championship game. Sorry Vern!

Scott Dowds, our Finemaster then preceded to give everyone a great trivia lesson on the “Masters”, until we found out the only reason he knew the answers was someone emailed them to him. Nice try Scott.

Rumor has it that Joe Lins threw out the first ball at a recent Fullerton game, or should I say, attempted to throw out the ball. Don’t feel bad Joe, you were doing it for the Prez, and in your defense, you probably thought you were bowling, right?

The program for the day was “Advance Care Planning – Choices for Living and Dying," presented by Jo Brannock and Christine Chow. The topic dealt with Advanced Care Directives and arrangements needing to be made prior to something happening to you. It is not a topic people like to discuss but it is very important and needs to be done. We need to make arrangements for our medical care and our future needs. The program was very informative and a lesson for all of us to get it done before it is too late!
