Volume 74 Issue38a Rota-Scribe: Wolf Knabe

I know this may seem redundant because you already received the Rotagram for 4/1/15, but this is the real Rotagram, I think? Confused? So was Joe Lins when he assumed the Presidents role in a well-planned coup. The coup occurred because of Prez Bill’s back surgery. The rumor was, he had back surgery because he had to carry the club this past year. The truth is, there may have been a spine or better yet, spineless problem. Just kidding Prez!

The meeting started off with the pledge by JD and the invocation by Pastor Greg Hickman. Theresa Harvey was our song master with a rousing rendition of “On Top of Old Smokey”. The dogs are still howling and “Smokey Bear” disappeared in shame.

Dictator Lins, I mean Acting Prez Lins announced to everyone that because this is good humor day, free ice cream was available.

Announcements included:

• Community Breakfast with Rex Hudler on Saturday, April 11th at 10 am, 404 W Wilshire Ave.
• Cal State Fullerton Baseball on April 2nd where you can see Joe Lins throw out the first pitch
• There are still at least 10 people needed to help with the Sunny Hills HS Top 100
• Jog A Thon needs volunteers and is upcoming
• Rota Actors will be performing on 4/11, 8 am at Loyola Marymount University during the Ethics Quorum
• Orange County Model A Ford Club will have its 54th Annual Pancake Breakfast on April 26th staring 8am at Hart Park in Orange

Acting Prez Joe called out the lottery ticket winner and it happened to be Howard, unfortunately he didn’t pick the right ball and no money was won.

The Fine Master was Chief Wolf Knabe. Many were fined, but the cost was worth it because they also received fire department cups and pins. Anniversaries celebrated were; Bob Hathaway 3/31 and Mark Zane 3/27.

Birthdays included; Chuck Munson 4/2, Theresa Harvey 4/3, and Walt Barnes 4/1. Don Bankhead was fined because he is a great American and has a birthday on July 4th! Joe Lins was fined because his daughter’s birthday is on 10/31. She is the treat and he is the trick.

Diane Masseth-Jones told us about it being “National Kazoo Day” and that we should all play together. Kazoos were provided at every table and the song if you would call it that, was undertaken, or should I say undertaker. After the song “Three Blind Mice” was played, we realized it was actually “Three Deaf Mice”. All in all, it was a good time and who knew there was a National KazooDay……….April Fools!

The program for the day was appropriate for April 1st. It was “Joke Day”. Although some say at Fullerton Rotary, it is a joke every day. Many jokes were told, many tears were shed, and many laughs were heard. It was good to be alive and attending a rotary meeting at theeeeee Rotary Club of Fullerton. The joke competition was fierce, but as in any good competition, winners must be declared. The grading scale was:

• 1 – Spit drink out through your nose funny
• 2 – Laugh out loud funny
• 3 – Groaner
• 4 – Bury it (or the teller)

The winners were….drum roll please…….

• 3rd Place – Kim Barlow
• 2nd Place – Pastor Greg Hickman
• 1st Place – Chief Wolf Knabe

Congrats to all and I am told the prizes were provided by Joe Lins! Thanks Joe
