Mark Zane led the club in the pledge of allegiance and Howard Wood coaxed a lovely rendition of Shine on Harvest Moon from the club followed by “Smile”.
Nate Kvetny gave the Thought for the Day and shared that he waited in line for 2 years to immigrate to America and finally got here in 1957 and gave a prayer that thanked all those responsible for protecting this country. He then performed the “Magic Trick” of the day (with the help of Jim Williams) and produced an American Flag out of thin air!
Rob Jahncke introduced visitors that included Jennifer Williams (Guest of George Giokaras) and Casey Lins (son of Joe).
Jim McKamy announced that sign-ups are now underway for “A Day at Del Mar” on Sunday August 12th. Price is $80 per person and includes buffet at Del Mar plus round-trip Amtrak tickets.

Ken Kaisch brought attention to the Presidential Tie that Prez Tom was wearing.
For the last two years Bob Radde and Dick Glaus have recorded themselves singing Howard Woods Rotary songs while they drive home from the meeting. Now they have a compilation tape they would like to sell to benefit Interact clubs. The cost of these recordings is $25 per CD and $45 for 8-track. Get your copy from Dick or Bob next week.

Dick Daybell did duty as Finemaster today. Dick recognized Ken Kaisch for another wonderful pastel shirt. Prez Tom for his son’s Golden Hill Little League All Star performance. Wally Swatkowski’s new son-in law who plays in the NFL. And finally all the long time members of the Fullerton Rotary Club. Buck Catlin was recognized for his 89th birthday as well as his 60 years with wife Bobbi. Dan Ouewelleen on his Birthday. Dick Glaus on his 78 Birthday; Ed Little for Marilyn’s birthday and their 55th wedding Anniversary. Jay Kremer will celebrate Gloria’s birthday on July 28.
Rob Jahncke was recognized for his appointment as chairman of the Fellowship Luncheon committee.
Debbie Koff won the raffle but failed to pick the joker from Prez Tom’s deck. She had to be satisfied with the $10 consolation prize donated by Minard Duncan.
Dick Jones introduced David Schikling from the Fullerton Water System. David provided an overview of the consumption and delivery systems of water in the city of Fullerton. David also illustrated the issues concerning local water systems including ground water replenishment; infra structure and obstacles in the delta where some of our water comes from.
Prez Tom closed the meeting with thoughts concerning his 85 year old dad who is near San Diego and ill. A former Rotarian who is proud of his son Tom.
