Guest Speaker:

Chief Pat McKinley introduced our guest speaker Tony Rackaukas, Orange County District Attorney

What’s happening at the O.C. District Attorney Office:

In 2006 the DA office reviewed 79,000 cases and had a 92% felony conviction rate.  They only file on cases they feel they can win.  The DA office is working to lower gang related crimes.  There were 28 gang homicides in 2006 and 96% were guilty convictions.

The O.C. DA office is working on creating a DNA database on most crimes that are committed locally.  “A small number of people commit most crimes.”  DNA will help convict these criminals.

Special thanks to Tony for his most interesting program
