Recognition Express by Minard Duncan:

Jeff Hutcheson’s daughter’s wedding announcement was in the paper and as a result will be faced with a $5 per month fine for an indefinite period of time.  Jeff did offer to build them a home instead of the wedding, stay tuned to see just how much influence the future groom to be has.

Fred Johnson paid dearly for wearing the wrong name badge, $50.

Bob Radde and J Ritche were also hit with an unknown fine for an unknown item as of this writing.

The honorable Jim Williams is doing his best to turn a new leaf and wear his pin, however, was still hit with a $50 fine.

Don Bankhead was caught with his keys in his pocket at the last Chamber Mixer at Renick by parking his car behind a gate that ended up being locked during the event.  Minard fined him $50 for having to have security bring him his car.  At this point Don pointed out to Minard that he was not wearing his lapel pin and wanted his fine reversed.  Minard continued onward letting Don know that the two were not related and then fined himself $100 for lack of said pin!

Jim Young had a meeting with Cal State Celebrity Kevin Cosner at the screening of Mr. Brooks and as a result was fined $25.

Future Prez. Tom Meyer refused to attend the program meeting earlier in the week as he was playing tennis.  Bragging to the group how he was the winner of his match Minard slapped him with a hefty $100 fine.

Prez. Terri was found in our district newsletter four fabulous times and let us all know what a terrific job our publicity director was doing.  Showing no sympathy Minard fined her $200.

Griff Duncan, happy LXXIV birthday with a $148 fine

Shine Kim forgot his third anniversary to the lovely Arise and was let off easy at $100.

Announcements - (continued)

Not to be outdone, Ray Hansen let us know that March 17 was his 51st anniversary of his wedding at 7th Heaven Church in China and Nancy’s birthday this coming Monday.  Ray was fined a collective $200.

We’re in the money!!!  Wally Bartelt was the lucky winner yet was unable to identify and pick out one of the coveted Jokers.  $10 reward for his efforts from the absent John Christensen.

Craft Talks…

Retiring Elmentary School Superintendant Cameron McCune spoke of being born at an early age in Canada.  He moved to the USA at another early age and spent a good portion of his years in beautiful Bakersfield.  He taught in Pomona, Mount Baldy and the smog got to him and decided Half Moon Bay was the place to be until he discovered the weather to be foggy or clear and very windy.  Three years was his limit when he moved to Modesto and became principal for 17 years.  He traveled down to Roosevelt High School then to Santa Ana where he was in charge of 300 teachers and 38 administrators!  He was recruited to Walnut Diamond Bar as their Assistant Superintendent.  He then found out about the opening in Fullerton and threw his hat in the ring and has enjoyed his stay.  He will retire in August and was most proud of the Bond Issue Election and the ability to greatly improve the infrastructure of the schools.  He is happy that the ACLU is behind him and feels the district is poised for more significant gains in academic achievement.  He spent little time telling Modesto that he would love to be a part of the 20 year celebration with their sister city in Ukrane.  He wants to see the space shuttle take off, see a World Cup Soccer game, take a long horse ride with friends in the desert and spend lots of time with his 1 year old granddaughter in Sonora.

Beckah Havard who was introduced to our club by Lee Brockett grew up in Pomona where she attended Yorba Elementary school.  Her Mom and Dad still live there and feels fortunate that her parents were home a lot and able to teach and mentor.  Her mom was a foster parent enabling Beckah to have an amazing total of 107 brothers and sisters!  She loved to play soccer and was the only girl on the boy’s Junior High School team.  She injured her knee and has three surgeries under her belt but it just likes to dislocate now and again.  She became a mom at 15 and is married to his dad.  They had a set of twins four years latter to round out their family at 3 kids.  The medical profession was her passion and she went into the RN program at Mt. Sac.  It was during her training that she discovered she didn’t like some of the things that go along with that profession.  She and her family enjoy all sorts of sports.  She has coached baseball for 2 years, soccer for 2 years and football seems to be the sport of choice for all.  She spent 7 years at Disney, where she found that the corporate life was not her cup of tea.  She has been her son’s scout leader since 1st grade.  When the District Executive for Fullerton and La Habra came available she inquired and at first was told the match wasn’t right as she was committed to her family and being available to them.  Once they figured that Beckah was the right match after all.  There are 62000 scouts in Orange County with 1200 volunteers.  As she closed her craft talk she thanked life long Scout Lee Brockett for introducing her to Fullerton Rotary.

Prez. Terri closed the meeting with the following thought;  The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up!
