NEXT WEEK, WE MEET AT COYOTE HILLS GOLF COURSE !!

Pledge, Song and Invocation

The meeting began like many others, but today we had Dick Daybell, Howard Wood and Leroy Fulton let us in the pledge, song and the invocation, respectively.

Introductions/welcome

Bill Mathy took the helm in introducing guests who included Lorelei, Chantil Dean Pevey (Vern Andrews), Denise, Skye and Kane Godhardt (daughter and kids of Minard Duncan), Vickie, wife of Bill Hite, Robin, wife of Bill Mathy. Also joining us were Dotty, wife of Jim Young, and Paulette, wife of Al Triay.

Announcements

  • Prez Terri Grassi, just back with a fresh dose of New York accent (from a quick trip back east for a family get together) started off with a reminder that I’ll put in bold… Next week’s meeting is at Coyote Hills Golf Course on Bastanchury Road!
  • Prez elect Tom Meyer reminded us that we need ads for the January concert’s program. Please contact him ASAP.
  • Jim Young announced a one-year anniversary celebratory concert (starring Carol Channing) for the Cal State Fullerton Performing Arts Center. Sunday January 14, 2006.
  • Jay Kremer reminded of a Program committee meeting at Carrows Thursday 7:30AM
  • David Schoen advised us that Bob Engemann’s wife is ill in the hospital and he asked for prayers. (Update: Joann passed away last Thurdsay, Dec 21.)

Recognitions

  • Vern Andrews presented a plaque for the club to Terri from the YMCA in appreciation for $100 they forwarded to two deserving kids. The funds from Vern originated from the ten 100 dollar bills that Jim Vanderburg  distributed several months ago.
  • Terri Grassi thanked Joanne Brannock for her role as liaison with the military representatives for the “Unsung Heroes” program.
  • Terri Grassi also thanked Mark McGee, Julianne Haynes, John Phelps and Bob Jahncke for their invaluable help with the Seniors Christmas Party and everyone who took part.

Drawing

While he was able to conjure up a face card, Tom Meyer couldn’t find a Joker in Terri’s deck of cards.

Program

The Eastside Christian “Traveling Performing/singing troupe” of 35 kids entertained us with enthusiastic singing and dancing, starting off with highlights from their rendition of “The Messiah” that they’ll be performing tomorrow night. It was greatly enjoyed by all.

Special Appearance

Similarities to Jim McKamy notwithstanding, Santa Clause make an appearance, giving out gifts to grandchildren of Rotarians as well as some Rotarians.  Free haircuts to a couple of our follicly- challenged members (bald)  were announced.  I’m sure that if combs were given to them, they’d never “part” with them.

Closing though by Terri:

“The most important things in life aren’t things”.

REMEMBER… NEXT WEEK IS AT COYOTE HILLS GOLF COURSE!!!
