Volume 65, Issue 48 Rota-Scribe: Bill Schenk

All conversation stopped immediately, as Prez Joyce needed only to pick up the gavel and look over those assembled to call the meeting to order. It’s taken nearly 50 weeks but Joyce has learned to start the weekly meeting by merely raising an eyebrow. Not since the reign of Savage the Terrible has a Fullerton Rotary President wielded such complete authority at the podium. (Murmurs in the membership indicate the hopes of a more warm and fuzzy leadership in Prez elect Terri Grassi ala Wally Bartelt of even Phil Silverman!)

Dick Daybell led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Howard Wood attempted to chase away the June gloom by leading the club in “By the light of the silvery moon”.

Don Bankhead gave to invocation and mentioned the passing of Margaret Karcher.

Bill Klinghoffer introduced his guest Karen Lucas.

Announcements:
Dan Kiernan announced the Boys & Girls club Golf Tournament on June 19th.

Jim McKamy announced a July 14th card tournament fundraiser for our preventable blindness fund. More information to follow.

Bill Klingh offer is holding a backyard reception for candidate Don Bankhead on July 16.

Bob Savage is circulating sing-up sheets for demotion night on June 28. Chicken, beef, or salmon are the menu choices.

Mike Oates thanks all the volunteers who worked on recent Top 100 dinners. Leslie McCarthy was especially recognized for her many hours of hard work and dedication to these dinners.

It was announced that Bill Peloquin has been roasted.

Jim Vanderburg was recognized (although this might have been a case of mistaken identity)

More on District Governor Bill Peloquin. It seems that Dr. Peloquin was not roasted literally, but took good-natured abuse from district dignitaries as part of is district governor demotion festivities at this months Presidents meeting.

Jim Williams Recognized Lee Myhre for he and wife Jackie’s 55th anniversary (Lee cites “agreeability” as the secret to a along marriage).

Al “T” Triay and Paulette also celebrated their anniversary.

Dick Daybell celebrated Lois’ birthday with a home cooked meal prepared by the grandchildren.
Ken Kaisch was fined for question Finemaster Williams’ reminder fees.

Special fathers day recognition was paid to Jim Vanderburg for being the Father of PETs (president-elect Training) which was adopted by Rotary international many years ago.

Bill Mathy had the winning number but did not know the answer. Prez Joyce threatened to drive an Abrams tank over his lawn and decorate his front yard with toilet paper for his ignorance. Next time he’s asked that question he’ll have the correct answer for sure!

Bill Klinghoffer introduce Dave Cole and Kristen Gust who gave a presentation of the Fullerton Theatre Guild. This new volunteer non-profit organization exits to promote the Fullerton Theater district and publishes a complete calendar for interested individuals to see what plays or performances are playing in all of the venues within the Fullerton area. A map to these many theaters is also published.

Prez Joyce ended the meeting by flashing the Peace sign to the club.
Or did she mean 2 more weeks? I can’t wait to see what she does next week!)
