Chief Sweetheart Joyce called the meeting to order and soon after was serenaded by Howard Wood and one hundred other Rotarians and guests as “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” was sung in commemoration of Joyce’ return after a one week hiatus (songs and presentations were made for Valentines Day of course).

George Giokaras led the pledge and Maryalyce Jeremiah gave the invocation.

Bill Hite introduced visiting Rotarians that included Frank Stoobant from Fullerton South, and Andy Ersek from Orange North. Visitors included: Marsha Bryon (Ray Hansen); Mirian Moll, Paulette Triay (Al T), Rob Jahncke (Robert), Myrna Martinez (Claude Jones); Kathy Meyers (Diane Jones); Charlie Luecker (Ed Little) and still on J Ritchie’s tab is Greg Hickman (who is applying for membership).

Announcements:  Minard Duncan invites volunteers for the usual photo-opportunity at the Rotary Dental Clinic at Valencia Park School from 7AM to 1 PM on Saturday Feb 11th.  He suggests ten o’clock for photos.

Proposed new Rotarian: Pastor Gregory Hickman, Pastor at Christian Life Center by J Richey. Greg is a former Rotarian from the East

Jim McKamy is betting he can get enough interest in a Santa Anita Horse Race fellowship on April 1.

Rick Crane is generating interest in April 2 CSF Baseball day.

Rick is also functioning as Buck Caitlin’s enforcer to make sure your Community Investment applications are in to Buck by Feb 20. (Or as Buck says: “After Feb 20 you can be first to apply for next year!)

Jim Williams introduced Kathy Allred, a founding member of the Red Hat society and the “Lady in Red” for today’s Valentine edition of Recognitions.

Kathy recognized Bill Mathy (and Robin) for hosting a Super Bowl party that had our club adventurer Teddy Bear in attendance.  Maryalyce Jeremiah was recognized for her 400 NCAA win. (Maryalyce announced that with a little luck the Cal State Fullerton Women will be invited to the big dance in March!).

Randy McFarland was recognized as the winning guest-coach in last weeks Basketball game.  He was awarded a souvenir T-shirt enjoyed a belated Gator-Aid shower courtesy of Rick Crane.

Jim Lapak was recognized for his 60th Birthday.

Wally Bartelt was recognized for his 5th Anniversary. (He wouldn’t say what he would do to celebrate)

John Derry for his 35th Anniversary (his wife will be out of town)

Dan Kiernan for his 43rd Anniversary (We all hope he can even find his way home!)

Dan Kiernan introduced Dr. Anil Puri who is the Dean of Business Schools at Cal State University, Fullerton.  Dr. Puri described the business schools that he presides over and discussed the challenges that were met in order for the new Steven G. Hihaylo Hall that is being build on campus.
