Volume 65, Issue 21 Rota-Scribe: Bill Schenk

A color scheme of Cardinal and Gold and Yellow and Powder Blue didn’t keep Howard Wood from choosing the Fighting Irish fight song for our opening song today. Howard, et. al led the club in Wild Irish Rose and Smile before a heavily Trojan based membership. Since they were clearly in the minority I will mention the names of Art Levine, Frank Kawase, Winston Creel who dressed for the Bruins and even brought their banners. The Trojan Rotarians responded with fight-songs, jokes and plenty of attitude. (they gave everything but POINTS!) More about SC/UCLA later.

David Schoen gave the invocation and pondered what he was most thankful for.

Bill Hite introduced visiting Rotarian Carl Westerhoff from Downey.

Rotarians with guests included: Randy McFarland (Ken Benjamin); absent Bob Hathaway (Patricia Frank); J Richey (Rev. Greg Hickman –Aloha Sunset, Hillsboro Washington); Paul Dudley (Joel Rosen).

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mark McGee anounced that Dec. 14 is the annual Senior Holiday Christmas Luncheon and that our regular weekly meeting will be held at the Ebell Club and residents from various retirement homes will be our special guests. Mark requests that everyone arrive early (10:45) to help our guests in and out of the Ebell Club (and bring umbrella’s if its raining!).

ANNOUNCEMENTS (continued)

Winston Creel has tickets for the Concert. He reminds us all that we might as well pick up the tickets because we’re all getting billed for them.

Jim Williams called up John Phelps to induct Teddy Bear into the club as a member. Teddy’s classification is “Adventurer” of course.
Jim levied a $300 fine to be divided among the USC contingent and the UCLA contingent. The winner of the big game Saturday will be paradoned and the loser will pony up (for accounting purposes everybody make sure they wear their uniforms next week).

Peter Argawal was inducted (for real) into our club. Peter is with Citizen’s Bank and was sponsored by Les Christensen. Welcome to the club, Peter.

Walt Barnes presented George Giokaras and Craig Walker with Paul Harris Fellows. Certificates.

Howard Wood won the raffle but only received the consolation prize (from Chuck Munson). Howard forgot the correct year that the Fullerton Rotary Club was chartered. (October 1922)

Prez Shecky Capelle took on all comers as she opened the meeting to jokes today. All styles and genres were displayed by fellow Rotarians that included Julie Kemp, Bill Mathy, Ray Hansen, Randy McFarland, Mike Oates, Jack Hayes, George Giokaras, Pat McKinley, and Prez Joyce.
It was hard to tell whose Joke was the best, but good fellowship was the obvious winner.
