Prez Tom welcomed all those assembled to this weeks meeting of THE FULLERTON ROTARY CLUB, and Rick Crane led the pledge of allegiance. Howard Wood and the gang led the assembly in a rousing tribute to baseball (GO TITANS, ANGELS, and DODGERS!). An even more rousing chorus of SMILE followed. Rev. Fulton gave the invocation and delivered a mini-sermon on Stress that seemed timely and greatly appreciated. Randy McFarland introduced visiting Rotarians the included: Assistant District Governor Joe Carpello of Brea Rotary, and Steve Chen of Buena Park Rotary. Becca Havard introduced fellow Boy Scout Executive Margaret Naylor; Drew Napolin introduced his guest Wendy Tesrado as well as his sponsored and soon to be inducted guest Marty Burbank. Craig Walker also introduced (for the last time) Guest and soon to be inducted new member Zoot Velasco. Announcements: This Tuesday is the April board meeting at 7:30 at the usual place. Titan Baseball Rotary day is April 25th (See Rick Crane) April 20th is a special performance by Jim Young at the James B. Young Theater at CSUF. Recognitions: Anyone who was not recognized must have failed to make eye contact with Finemaster Dan Kiernan. Dean Heiser, Leroy Fulton, Craig Walker, Zoot Velasco, Tom Meyer, Allyn Lean, Pat McKinley, Mike Oates, and Jim Young were all fined for transgressions, real or imagined. Jim Williams paid a fine for a photo of his nephew that commemorated record breaking feats at the recent track meet. Fine Master Dan failed however to perform the simple task of downloading this week’s birthdays and anniversaries to properly recognize worthy club members (certainly to be noted by next weeks Finemaster). Dan relied on the honor system and finally recognized: Becca Havrad, Howard Wood, and Walt Barnes for their April fools Day Birthdays. Chet Shultz celebrates his birthday on April 3rd. Drew Napolin’s wife Linda’s Birthday. Bob and Karen Hathaway celebrated their 1st year of wedded bliss while Les and Kevin McCarthy celebrated 23 years of marriage. Prez Tom gave a special recognition to Randy McFarland for his usual Herculean efforts in organizing and executing the submission of District award booklets highlighting the Fullerton Rotary Clubs work in all avenues of service. Jay Kramer introduced Fullerton veteran educator Bob Lind of gave a lively presentation and discussion about the American Presidency. His talk was full of little known facts that were revelations to most of us expect for Griff Duncan and Keith Mills. Keith and Griff seemed to follow this presentation as if they were confederates at a medicine show!). Prez Tom closed the meeting with more words from Benjamin Franklin: “Uncertainty and expectations are the Joy of Life”. |
