Theresa Harvey reminded us about the April 11th Fab Four Concert.
- Randy McFarland - The Fab Four community concert is our opportunity to raise funds FROM the community to give back TO the community. One of the advantages of being a large club is the leverage we have when all of us make a little effort ! This week, let’s each think of a business or two that we patronize and ask them to display one of our colorful posters for two weeks. Remember we are not marketing this concert to club members. We are asking club members to market to the community.
- Rick Crane needs help at the Track Meet at Troy HIgh School this Saturday, March 29. He gave a special thanks to Bob Radde for getting T-Shirts for the participants.
Fines by Dick Mathewson:
- Stanfordites Bob Clark, Dick Daybell and Bob Savage for not knowing much about the recent Stanford/Cornell basketball game.
- Don Bankhead, Chief Pat Mc Kinly and Bob Savage for not being able to finish an old Burma Shave road sign commercial.
- Bill Klinghofer could not answer an Elvis Presley question.

Program:
Leroy Fulton introduced Joseph Cho, Director of the Hope University Choir. The choir sang a wonderful rendition of “America, the Beautiful” and an inspiring song about God.
Dr. John Derry shared a Power Point presentation about Hope University.
Hope began 80 years ago in Los Angeles at the Alvarado Church of Christ. In 1930, the church group moved to Long Beach First Christian Church and it grew through Pastor Taubman's leadership to 31,034 members. In 1962, it was named Pacific Christian School. In 1973, the school moved to Fullerton and the architecture of the buildings was called “Googie” or “Populuxe” or “Doo-Wop” and this architecture was influenced by the space and the atomic age. In 1997, the school earned university status and became Hope International University. In 2003, a new student center was built and our Rotary sponsored a room. Currently, Hope has 1,500 students from 35 states and 30 countries. Tuition, room, board and fees cost about $30,000 per year. Leadership and ethics are stressed..
Beginning in June of 2008, the 18 acre campus will begin its development plan. Student housing of 350 apartments and a 4 story parking structure will be built on part of the land on the north side of Chapman Avenue. The parking structure will be set back so it will not be readily seen by passersby. 124 retail spaces will be available on the street. The construction will begin in June of 2008 and be completed in August of 2010.
Stand-in Bill Mathy concluded the meeting at 1:30 p.m.
