Program:

Jay Kremer and his committee provided another excellent program:
Martha Brogdon from the Orange County Great Park Corporation presented a slide show of the artist’s rendition of the 4,700 acre Great Park. Our Federal government gave Irvine City 1,347 acres and $400 million dollars to build the park. 974 acres are owned by the federal government. 2,300 acres are privately owned and this section will be developed by the Lenard Company for retail stores and homes. The Master Plan for the Great Park was approved on 8-2-07. Landscape Architect, Ken Smith, will design a 165 acre Sports Park, a Cultural Terrace, a Canyon and large lake, and a Botannical Garden.

Anyone interested can visit the park now between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and get a free ride in the Great Park Balloon. It is 100 feet tall and goes up 500 feet in the air giving the riders a great view of the park. Martha says the best time to go for a ride is in the morning because the wind is less at that time, allowing more riders per trip.

Prez Tom thanked our guests and reminded the Rotary Board that there is a board meeting next Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. and fro the board to meet early at 11 a.m. before our next Wednesday Rotary meeting because our District Governor will be asking each Director what plans are in the making for this year.

At the end of our meeting, Tom asked how many of us are Barry Bonds fans. Two people held up their hands. Then he closed the meeting with “It is not whether you win or lose, it is how you play the game.”
