Randy McFarland was invited by President Terri to lead us in the Pledge. He was followed by Howard Wood and Don Ludwig leading us in a romantic ode to wedded bliss to celebrate the month of June. An anonymous Rotarian was heard to comment that the phrase “June gloom” was coined for the same reason. Art Levine led us in the invocation by opening with a recitation of the letter Dwight D. Eisenhower read to his troops prior to deployment in 1944.
Guests:
Thank you Coach Maryalyce for introducing all the visiting Rotarians and guests. Included in that auspicious list were two generations of Jahncke wives, Beth and Nancy. Jimmy Williams brought his best (and only) friend, Dean Stockwell. President Terri introduced us to her two wonderful daughters, Andrea and Laura and Minard Duncan brought Dr. Mitch Hovey. Coins were thrown around the room and unanimously vetoed was the idea to extend the coin toss for another 30 days. Coach Maryalyce did state that she wanted to give a gift to all visitors, but Walt Barnes has impounded all the club’s funds and folded them into an irrevocable endowment. We are broke but welcome to all!
Announcements:
· Lee Myhre introduced us to Sandy White from Meals on Wheels of Fullerton. They are a grateful recipient of one of our grant awards in the amount of $1,500. The organization has over 275 volunteers and is always looking for additional drivers and friends. She thanked us sincerely for the ongoing support of our club!

A very short, small, brief presentation will be made by Good Guy President and fellow Rotarian Rick Doebler and the balance of the evening will be filled with food and drink!
· President Terri will be emailing you all with a by-law revision that will be voted on June 20th. Please review what is sent and be present to make your vote count. Also a thank you letter was received from Valencia School for our sponsorship on the Dental Clinic.

Fines:
Recognition Master Bob Clark, Jr. just got back from the salt mines where he interacted with donkeys and got clean by jumping into the ocean. Sounds like a trip the rest of us might want to take. He was so disappointed with his vacation that he was a little rough with the fining and his theme for the day was “Give ‘til it hurts!” Rob Jahncke was hit for Nancy’s birthday, Dick Daybell was hit for the same thing, Lee Myhre was fined $336 for his 56th wedding anniversary with Jackie and then it got really ugly. As best as this Rotoscribe can remember,
· Fred Johnson was doing something illegal in 1971, imparing his memory of that time.
· Minard Duncan was born in 1775
· Frank Kawase invented the idea of the penny postcard
· Ray Hansen was the first President of the United States
· President Terri is solely responsible for us having to pay income taxes
· Coach Maryalyce dated the youngest pitcher in baseball
· Jim Blake sank his boat on the Great Barrier Reef
· Buck Catlin assassinated Senator Huey Long
    And
· Walt Barnes has a horse with a Rotary tattoo and the youngest Paul Harris Fellow in the history of Rotary
(Bob, if you want to clarify the finer points of your fines, I will see if we can post a retraction next week.)
Raffle:
The Raffle was won by Wally Swatkowski did not draw an Ace, however he was consoled with $10 and 5 pounds of fresh thresher shark from Dick Daybell.

Rob Jahncke delivers his Craft Talk
|
We were pleased to be introduced to one of our second generation Rotarians! Rob Jahncke’s craft talk included the fact that he had come full circle. As a student at Fullerton High School, he was a Top 100 recipient and now was able to participate in providing the same experience to our current generation of high schoolers. He is a Fullerton Native and mechanical engineering graduate of San Luis Obispo. Rob has two daughters and a wonderful wife, Nancy who he met at a singles group he started in his church. When they both got sick of the snow in the Midwest, they migrated back home and he is now rerooting himself in Fullerton. As a residential real estate appraiser he is having a blast working for himself!

Williams & Jahncke discuss Web Site
|
A second half of the program featured “Ask Bob.” A webmaster par excellence, Bob introduced us to the Fullerton Rotary site as guided by talk show host Jimmy Williams. Randy McFarland as producer of the event filled some air time with horses and greyhounds until the webmaster was able to bring the program on-line. For more information on our very own club (and to keep Dan Kiernan out of Bob Jahncke’s bed), play on the site at www.fullertonrotary.com. You will find Rotograms for the past 7 years, a full roster including new (green) members and honorary (gold) members, Paul Harris’ biography, hyperlinks to member’s websites, and coming soon hyperlinks to member’s email addresses (a great suggestion posed by Drew Napolin). A final personal footnote from Bill Mathy as quoted, “The first thing on Robyn’s mind at 2:00 a.m. in the morning is Bob Jahncke.” You can also get to Rotary International and the District’s website from ours. Have Fun!
Closing thought by President Terri: Footprints on the sands of time are not made sitting down.
Respectfully submitted - Leslie McCarthy
