Horse "poop" Beginning

Chief Pat McKinley called the meeting to order and told those present to exit the building.  Not surprisingly, almost everyone followed the FPD orders.  President Mike Oates arrived at his first meeting on horseback. Mike dismounted, and we went back inside sans the horse.

Chris Meyer led us in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Griff and the boys and our rousing rendition of Home on the Range and Smile.

Lee Myhre's Thought for the Day reminded of the fine historical programs that are available on TV to remind us of the sacrifices of others for the life we live today.

We were beautifully interrupted by Judge/Madam Lil AKA Carolyn Tormey, who will be President Mike's communicable disease commissioner for indiscretionary fines and recognitions.

Visitors and Guests

The formerly honorable Dick Jones introduced visitors and guests including: Dick Boyle, Frank Stroobant, Wayne Patterson and Bruce Mihelich as visiting Rotarians.. The following guests of Rotarians: Larry Parker by Pat Tormey, Andrew Goetz by Bob Jahncke, Evie Halopolf by David Schoen, Elizabeth Oates by Mike Oates, Ann Kiernan, Ray Hagglund Joyce Hagglund by Dan Kiernan, and Angela Tormey by Carolyn Tormey.

Announcements in Record time

Minard Duncan pushed the raffle tickets for FIES and the Mini Cooper $100 Evie Halopolf  thanked us for supporting the Leukemia Marathon Elizabeth Oates thanked us for sending the Oates to Barcelona. Bill Peloquin presented Jim Blackburn with a Rotarian of the Year plaque and the box it came in.

Former President Bill asked no hard questions but did present awards of recognition to Bill Kincaid for service as Treasurer and Ray Ashcroft for all the outstanding publicity for 12 years.  Julianne Haynes and Wally Bartelt were thanked for the Demotion Night Dinner.

Scott Dowds did not get to make his announcement because the 5 minute limit had been reached. This president is tough on announcement mongers!

President Mike Oates Explains the new Regime

1) Their will be four judge/bounty hunters: Pat McKinley (El Jeffe), Carolyn "Lil" Tormey (La Heifer), Jim Blackburn (the Liberal Hanging Judge) and Jim (hanging preceded by a fine) Williams.   Fines will be placed in the "pot", and will be over above our pledges. 2) Scooting will cost one dollar in the aforementioned pot. At this point in Mike's speech 55 people tried to pay their dollar and leave early!!!!!!!!

Raffle gone awry

Andy Anderson had the winning ticket but did not know that the Directors for 02-03 are Claude Jones, Ronnie Hewett, Chris Fraschetti, Tom Meyer, Terri Grassi and Bob Savage.  As it turns out Prez Mike could not name the directors either.  John Phelps furnished the consolation prize (while away visiting Europe).

Recognitions

Judge Williams handed out indictment, wanted posters and the like to Dick Mathewson and Bill McGarvey, (trespass) Griff Duncan, (pandering) Jana Bogard, Al Tetreault, (trading in endangered species) Greg Franklin (desertion of minors), Jon West (moderate vice), Paul Dudley, Chris Meyer and Mayor Bankhead (one way trafficking in martinae?).

The End of the Beginning

Prez Mike in a politically incorrect move invited those present to take a Rotary pin for themselves and their "wives".. That pin includes the double entendre , "Sow Seeds of Love",, which is OK so long as you don't sow those seeds in too many places.

Treasurer Frank Kawase inherits a budget that is in fine shape, and we hope to top the $100K raised and/or distributed last year.

Judge /Madame Lil began the fund raising by collecting a dollar from everyone who left.  Several members seemed short of funds because they hung around until the dollar collecting judge had left
