Meeting opened by President Mike. Deck the Halls and Smile were performed by our sexy sextet and the thought for the day was provided by Joyce Capelle as follows: "Everybody, sooner or later, sets down to a banquet of consequences." * Chris Hunt is with us for her last meeting. Let's all wish her well in her new career path!
* Terri Grassi has whale watching for all of us on Saturday, 1/11/03 from 10-l pm. Kids are welcome. Call her for more details at 680-4949.
* Bill Peloquin is making a last ditch effort for a "no-brainer" fundraiser. Buy your Rotary license plates for residual income to our club. His number is 525-2251 for more info.
* Mike brought us up to date on the International Convention in Australia .
* Amy Kluth announced a session at Western State including representatives from Iraq and Iran. Should be very interesting!
* Terri Grassi also needs us to be aware of Rotary Christmas party on 12/18 at our regular time. If you have kids or grandkids who are to receive gifts, please smuggle them in and make sure that they are clearly marked. (the Kids, that is.)
* Nate Kvetney wishes us all Happy Hanukah. With the advantage of the Pot Pass he wanted to point out that "Oy Vey" is what we all should say after Pres. Mike tells a 'joke'. We need to give him to Dr. Jim to train and if he passes we can change that to "Oh Yeah" when the jokes come around.

* Rick Crane announced the annual Senior Holiday Lunch next week. We need 6 people to unload guests starting at 11:00. Please come help.
* Winston Creel has the Kingston Trio tickets for 2/7/03. Buy early for stocking stuffers.
*Pres. Mike let us know about a road trip to Mexico for Polio Plus sponsored by North Santa Ana.

Also, bring your "good" jokes and drink Irish Coffee with us on 1/8/03. We will be dark 12/25 and 1/1.

Tom Meyer introduced Dale Hardner, Cathy Gack was a guest of Mike Escalante, Lee Brockett brought Janie Noppe and Howard Wood introduced us to his wonderful wife Doris, but why was the lovely Wilma sitting with him and not our past president? Rotarians visiting us were (on permanent loan from Rotary South) Dick Boyle, Howard Dutra and Burnie Dunlap from Brea. Welcome to all!

Program

A great craft talk was provided by Howard Wood. Among his high points was sharing a school and love of the Barbershop Quartet with Ray Ashcroft, having a true love of service to the community and in the year he was born, the Easter Bunny was delivering babies, not the stork. His birthday could be a lot of fun as it is celebrated on April Fool's day!

A late "happy birthday" to Ray Ashcroft and $39 to the pot for a nod to his age. Was it my imagination or did it seem like we had a lot of 39 year olds celebrating their birthdays this month?
