If you missed it, we had some very interesting craft talks by Newest Niners Jana Bogart and Pat House. Jana, with assistance from Jim Williams, faced her fear of public speaking. Yes, Jana, you're done and you'll never have to do it again!! But great job! Jana was born and raised in Fullerton (graduated with Bob Sattler and Jeff Hutchison from Fullerton High). She went into nursing and married her high school sweetheart. Sadly, he passed away suddenly leaving Jana to raise their two girls, ages 8 & 5 at the time, alone. Fortunately, she had many family members and friends to help her through, especially her mother. She shared the history of McCoy Mills Ford of which she is co-owner with her brother, Jim. The dealership is the highest rated in California in customer satisfaction. Jana is involved with the Boys & Girls Club, has just joined the Board for Crittenton Services and is proud to be a Rotarian.Pat House, executive director of the Muckenthaler, seemed destined to become involved in museum work from a very young age. She had grandparents who traveled extensively and would bring back interesting objects which young Pat would put on display in the backyard and charge admission! She was raised in Los Angeles but spent sometime briefly in Fullerton. She actually taught at Sunny Hills H.S. for four years while in graduate school. She has 3 sons, a physician, a professor at Penn State and a business strategy consultant. She has degrees in history, anthropology and art history. Her personal area of interest is African art and culture. She has been to Africa 26 times, averaging I-2 visits per year. She has worked at the Bowers, in Santa Fe and at the Pacific Asia Museum. Pat is a breast cancer survivor and is very active and healthy. She enjoys life and enjoys art!
