Board of Directors Meeting |
Present: Mathy, Capelle, Dowds, Franklin, Dexter Savage, Kawase, Jahncke, Jones, Myhre, and Schoen.
Invocation by Claud Jones.
Secretary Jahncke: No minutes available for approval.
Asst Dist Gov Dexter Savage: Dexter explained what his responsibilities are supposed to be. Wally Bartelt and Dexter are “tag team members”. They will swap back and forth. He announced that we are promoting Bill Peloquin to become Dist Governor.
President Mathy: Wanted to have each Director to run the club meeting for a day. Have 6 directors - perhaps every 6 weeks or so.
• Next Board Meeting is scheduled fot the 12th. Alan Stark, Dist Gov, is set for his visit on the 13th. Bill would like to have the board meeting at 10am on the 13th. Franklin cannot make the 13th. Agreed to have the next Board Meeting on the 13th at 10am.
• Alan Stark is looking to increase the participation at the monthly “Presidents” meetings. The District has billed each club for 2 members to come each month. The plan is for a Director to join the President during a pre-schedule month. Bill handed out calendars for each board member to be able to plan for the year.
• Jack Hayes - created a bookmark for the Rotary Club to pass out at the Library to promote the club. May cost as much as $200 to produce.
• Several thank you notes from various organizations that we assisted in the past year.
• Organizational chart - Bill detailed several of the specific boxes, to be filled in by the various Directors. Jahncke commented that this is the time to consider what activities might be added or deleted from the chart to fill our projected activities for the coming year.
• Family Christmas Party has been difficult because of the week attendance from kids. Perhaps an evening meeting, with wives and entertainment.
• Club Concert fund raiser - Bill suggested that we raise the fee to $50 or $55, bring in a group like the Smother’s Brothers. January 24th, and we should be able to bottom line about the same level of funds for our local charities.
Club Service - Membership - new attendance reports are being prepared by J Richey. Poor attendance list should not have AE members listed, or perhaps they should be listed on a separate list. To become an AE (Attendance Excused member), the number of years in Rotary added to your age must equal 85 or more. A “Reminder”, or “We Missed You” card is sent to those members missing all the meetings.
International - Jones: Claud has requested photographs of the completed work in Mexico to be able to show to our club membership. A consequence of the electrical contractor work should be a lowering of their electric rates. A food and clothing gathering will be taking place in December.
