Minutes will continued to be mailed, as well as e-mail
Holes in Organization Chart continue to be filled.
Kincaid: Treasurer's Report:
- Good financial shape. $3,300 in checking, $31,000 in money market, for a total of $34,300 in bank.
We are still owed $1,000 each from Sunrise, and South. It is possible and likely that we will have
about $15,000 to give to the foundation. This is on top of the fact that we have already given
$83,000 in charitable giving this year. Bill review costs for demotion night.
- Costs are such that $45 per person should cover the bills. $12 meal credit for members attending.
- New Draft of the Budget. Looking for input. This is more of a working document to estimate how
expenses and income will materialize for the year. Looking to approve next meeting (August).
- Bill received a call from the Probus Club regarding the financial straits of the Elk's Club. They
received a $4,000 electrical bill that they are having difficulty paying. We should be thinking of
how we might help the Elk's Club. A continuing dialog with the Elk's lodge is important.
- The letter from Louis Rodrigues regarding his absence due to court assignment. A letter should be
written to encourage him to change clubs while his court assignment is such.
- Need new signature cards for the bank: Bartelt, Hansen, Jahncke, Oates, Triay, Peloquin, Grassi,
and Kincaid to be signors.
Bob Savage: Club Service, Membership
- Attendance at meetings has been low. Oates held a membership committee meeting; it was decided
to look closely as some of our new members as regards non-attendance.
- John Davis - retired, but works on Wednesday.
Raj Singh - needs to be asked to resign.
- Bob Savage to send a letter to those not participating at our meetings.
- Jahncke moved that we fine ALL non A/E (and Honorary) $5 for each meeting missed. 2nd by
Kincaid. After discussion, motion was tabled. We are to place a notice in the Rotagram to
announce that the Board is concerned about the low level of attendance, and that we are looking at
options to encourage attendance, including the use of a fine. We want feedback from the
membership.
- Jahncke presented the honorary members: Hilton Dalessi, Roy Harvil, Jack Hayes, Royce Hutain,
Bill Lenahan Vonnie Meng, and Keith Mills. Most of these people continue to support the club
financially; the ones that don't have done great things in the past and deserve honor. Jahncke
moved that we continue their Honorary status. Cost to the club for this honor amounts to $7.50 per
year per person, to cover the cost of the Rotarian Magazine. Motion Approved.
Creel: Community Service, General
- Committee meeting to discuss concert for next year. David Caine, Phantom of the Opera. He will
NOT be singing exclusivly Phantom songs. There will be fill in with local entertainment groups.
Cost of performers will be about $15,000 vs $5,000 last year. Looking for ways to fill the upstairs
balcony, perhaps at $5 to high schools
Peloquin: President
- Owen Dean is assistant governor for our section.
Franklin: Community Service - Youth:
- No activity this summer.
- Possibility of Rotaract with Hope University and/or CSUF.- Rotary South is working on this.
Fraschetti: International Service
- Mexico House construction project may not work this year because of South's reluctance to
participate.
- Possibly work on a project with the Sister City, Morelia. They have several Rotary
Clubs, and are looking for support from the Fulleerton Clubs. Pres Bill suggested that we consider
the "Jaws of Life" - that Morelia does not have any, and a $400 donation from our club could be
matched through RI to work for us, providing $800 in funds for the project. RI Matching funds
projects need to be submitted ASAP - RI runs out of funds quickly.
New Business
- 3 New members to be orientated and brought in: Brian Chun, Leslie McCarthy, and Amy Kluth.
