Travis McShane led us in the pledge of allegiance.
Bud Lang led in singing God Bless America
Ken Kaisch provided our moment of reflection of peace by pointing out the need for both compassion and tolerance, with a reminder that neither is a sign of weakness but really a sign of strength.
Our guests today included Steven Forry, the new CEO of the Fox theater; Sean Daughtery; Greg Eubanks, the new CEO of Crittenton; Carol Morris, who is a potential new member; and Jerry Dominguez, Saram, and Angelica from the North Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
Our recognition chair for the day was Randy McFarland, who recognized Raco and Bill Hite for their many years of service in Rotary; Thad Sandford for his 53rd wedding anniversary; and Bud Lang for his fantastic ‘over the top’ decorations for Halloween.
Announcements: Leslie McCarthy reminded us that our meeting on 27 Oct will be a Halloween party at 127 Commonwealth Ave where costumes are encouraged. She also announced that John Phelps will host the Christmas party at his home. Details for the Christmas party are in work. Dan Ouweleen announced that the District is looking for a part time administrative assistant, who work about 20 hours a week for $20 per hour. If you know of a potential candidate, please let Dan know.

Our speaker for the was Andrew Gregson, who gave his introductory craft talk. Andrew has had an interesting background preceding his current position as CEO of the North Orange County Chamber of Commerce. He was born and raised in England. He attended a classic English boy’s boarding school, was in the Boy Scouts, and in a children’s choir. He later joined the army and served as one of the royal guards. He also worked for a while in Germany in the Fire Service and later in sales. He came to the U.S. to also work in sales and marketing for a law firm. He was worked for the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce before joining the our Chamber of Commerce earlier this year.
Zoot Valesco closed the meeting at 1:30 with a quote from Henry Ford: which roughly stated is ‘When concerned that everything is blowing against you, you should remember that a plane takes off against the wind.’
