Over 100 members of the Fullerton Rotary Club returned from a harrowing cruise that they feared they wouldn’t survive. Passenger Joe Lins said when interview that if it wasn’t for the courage of Captain Dick Daybell navigating the treacherous waters the ship could have been lost.
“The waves were unbelievably high and the winds were fierce, but the captain rallied his crew and guided us back to port right on schedule”, Lins, told reporters.
Passenger Roxanne Hickman (the wife of ships Pastor Greg Hickman) commended the Captain for his efforts above and beyond duty as he paid attention to every detail of the voyage.
Old Salt Vern Andrews, expressed special praise on the generosity of the Captain for his special gift of $10,000 to the Fullerton Rotary Foundation.
Even the President of the Cruise Line, District Governor Kevin Padilla, praised Captain Daybell, for guiding this valuable vessel home in such terrible conditions.
Many of the passengers were not even aware of the peril they had been in and only remembered the joy and happiness of another Last Night At Sea Party.
Veteran entertainer Zoot Velasco gave his final performance, blew kisses to everybody and sang the trad
ition farewell song “There’s got to be a morning after” with tears in his eyes as the ship gracefully docked at its moring.
In other news: Glynis Pruett was installed as the next chairman of RYPEN an important division of the Fullerton Rotary Club. Ms. Pruett promised to keep the parent club informed about the resources RYPEN can provide in the future.

New Fullerton Rotary President Dan Ouweleen surveyed the situation and announced that from now on the meetings would not be aboard ship but back in the friendly environment of the Elks Club.
