Presiding over probably the largest contingent of Rotarians in his life, President Lee Brocket called to order our meeting which was held at the Erickson Educational Center at St. Jude Medical Center and was attended by all three Rotary Clubs of Fullerton as well as Brea and La Habra Rotary Clubs.
Only the most vital traditions were followed for the meeting in the interest of time for the host and speaker, Lee Penrose, President and CEO for St. Jude Medical Center.
Immediately following the delicious lunch (including dessert) the invocation by Ken Kaisch and the pledge by Susan Smith, introduction were made and the program began with Mr. Penrose talking about the building activity at St. Jude Medical Center which is to follow seismic building code requirements for patient care facilities. The number of patient beds will remain the same, when the new building takes over the patient rooms that are vacated and converted to offices..

Mr. Penrose gave a brief oversight of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) laws much of which will go into effect in January 2014. He acknowledged the questions surrounding this big change in our healthcare administration and showed animated video giving an explanation of the ACA.
St. Jude Medical Center was the perfect host to our multi-club event in the Erickson Education Center. We are very fortunate to have this health care center here in Fullerton!
For more detailed information about the (ACA) and how it may impact you, go to www.CoveredCA.com. California will administer the program for its residents. Many citizens will be covered through their employers and some may opt out but will pay for that choice via an annually escalating tax added to their tax returns. Other states have chosen not to so will be going directly through the federal government. You know what they say, “ if you like the IRS, you’ll love Obamacare!”
