Prez Scott enthusiastically opened the program and had that great American Chris Meyer lead the club in the pledge.. Deacon Jay gave a beautiful and thoughtful invocation. And Nissa Newton led a fantastic version of “You’re a Grand Old Flag” followed by “Smile”.
Scott took time to formally introduce Assistant District Governor Kevin Padilla to our lunch time meeting.
An amazingly slender Dick Mathewson introduced Rotarians with guests that included Visiting Rotarian Meg Crider (guest of Allyn Lean); Zina Gleason (guest of missing Rotarian Joyce Capelle); Susan Smith (guest of Prez Scott); Boys & Girls Club Executive Steve Savage (Bob Jahncke); Paulette Marshall (guest of Diane Masseth-Jones), and Larry Ballard (guest of Jim Blake).

Tom Meyer acted as Fine Master today and promptly recognized Dan Kiernan for always giving him a hard time, and Prez Scott for always sucking up to him. He levied Scott a fine and let Dan walk free. (Tom did not elaborate on how Prez Scott sucks-up to him)
Tom also Fined (in absentia) Mark McGee, not for getting a distinguished award at the Fullerton American Legion recently, but rather for taking his wife to the meeting! (The American Legion met at the Sizzler on Valentines Day).
Phil Silverman was fined for his birthday (alright, Phil’s birthday is actually December 25th but he’s never recognized for it).
Vimal Seth seemed surprised to learn that Thursday, the 8th is his 55th birthday.
Craig and Leesa Walker will celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary Thursday, as well.
Fine Master Shecky Meyer then did a ten minute comedy routine on the basketball tournament lamenting how the Pac 12 will not be represented.
Rick Crane won the raffle but did not know the Orchestra Leader with the hit single in 1961 “The Stripper” (David Rose)

Capuchin Monkey helps Disabled
|
Program:
Our program today was presented by Yolanda Agruirre who gave an interesting presentation on an organization called “Helping Hands-Monkey Helpers for the Disabled”. Yolanda showed a short video of the special Capuchin Monkeys from Central and South America who are trained and integrated into the homes of people living with spinal cord injury or other mobility problems. These little monkeys provide companionship and assistance by doing simple tasks like passing a drink of water, retrieving a phone or remote control or any small object out of reach of the injured person. They can live to be up to 35 years old and are 6 to 9 pounds in weight.
Our Apology - Last week we reporte that "Troy & Sunny Hill High" - shoud have been "Fullerton and Sunny Hlls High"
We also reported incorrectly the Rotoscribe - it was actually Leslie McCarty |
