Again, Mark McGee did an excellent job with the Christmas Party for Senior Shut-Ins from Acacia Villa, Evergreen and Gordon Lane. Many Rotarians attended to help with serving, cleaning up, cheering up the seniors and presenting gifts to them.
Mark directed Ray Hansen to led us in the invocation and the flag salute.
Zoot Velasco and Debbie Napolin provided some zip to the occasion by leading us in a Sing-A-Long of Christmas songs.
While the senior shut-ins were being served and eating our holiday meal from Collette’s, the Fullerton Tuba Quartet wonderfully entertained us with their Christmas pieces. The very talented and professional quartet of Norm Taylor, Devon Taylor, Linda Taylor and Bob Mosso volunteered their services for this special event. The quartet has played at Carnigie Hall, with the Orange County Symphonic Band and each player has earned advanced degrees in Music. Outstanding! Carla Turner, teacher at Parks Jr. High, brought her Heavy Metal Bell Ringers making this the 23rd holiday season to perform for our Rotary Club! Another super treat! And, of course, Santa came to visit us . Some Rotarians thought it was Jim McKamy but what do they know! Would you believe that we had six senior shut-ins at ages of 91 or more! Two were 97 years young! Thanks to George Geokaris for making the arrangements for 9 bus drivers to transport our guests! And, thanks to Miko Krisvoy and Sandy Hayes for preparing the tables with holiday decorations!
Next meeting Deacon Jay will present our program on U.S. Presidents. Be prepared to stump Deacon with a question.
