Town Crier: Terri Grassi

  • May 1st, 2009- Bon Voyage.  Party for retiring Chief Pat McKinley will be held at the Museum Plaza.

Chamber of Commerce:

  • February Sunset Mixer is Wednesday February 11th hosted by the Holiday Inn and Suites: 2932 E. Nutwood Ave.  It’s from 5pm-7pm
  • Our changing economic landscape is Friday March 9th at the Summit House at 11:30am.  The moderator is our own Tom Meyer.

  • Mike Oates was fined for tasteless jokes.  I thought his jokes were improving.
  • Blake Smith was fined for surviving cod liver oil
  • Everyone over 6 feet got fined
  • Dan Kiernan’s quote: “little boys pack it tighter”.  What does that mean?
  • Terri Grassi was fined for pictures with rock stars
  • Mike Oates was fined, again.  Ken couldn’t resist that he was just “feeling his Oates”.

  • She chose to help her “Mike Oates”.

Baseball Trivia:

  • Who are the only 2 switch hitters to hit 500 or more home runs?
  • They got one correct, Mickey Mantle.  They missed Eddie Murray.

Program: Speech contest

  • Chair, Diane Masseth-Jones: Our speakers are from Fullerton High School and Sunny Hills High School
  • From Fullerton High School: Matthew Jenkins, Shirae Christie, Ellit Pratt, and Justin Restano
  • From Sunny Hills High School: Joshua Shin, Andy Moow, and Kevin Kim
  • Today’s speech theme is, “make dreams real”.
  • Time keeper was Bob Radde and Wally Swatkowski
  • The judges were: Jim Williams, Dr. Jim Young, Minard Duncan, and Bob Hathaway
  • All the speeches were great and a real tough job for the judges.
  • The results were announced: 2nd runner up was Shirae Christy.  The winner was Matthew Jenkins. 
  • A great contest.  Special thanks to Diane, judges, and time keepers.

Closing Remarks:

“You may be disappointed if you fail, but doomed if you don’t try”.
1/28 High School Speech Contest with contestants from Fullerton High and perhaps Sunny Hills High. Previous contestants have won college scholarships.
