Fine Master:
After discussing Kobe Bryant’s record 81 points in a B.B game, Jim Willams introduced our Fine Master who never met a record he did not want to hold - Freddy “Rock a Billy” Johnson. As Freddy recognized Rotarians for various reasons, he played a record fitting for each Rotarian and they were to name the record and other information.
February birthdays were Mike Oates-The record was “Alli-oop”and was made in 1961. Allyn Lean - The record was Bill Dana as Jose Jimenez in Dana’s “Astronaut” role.
Randy McFarland was recognized for receiving the Chamber of Commerce award for Best Small Business - record was “Chewing Gum” by Lonny Donnagan. Jack Hayes was recognized for no reason - “Hello Mudder” by Allen Sherman in 1982. Dick Jones also for no reason - record was “Get Off the Stove Grandma, You’re Too Old Drink the Beer” by Clean Living. Chief Pat McKinley also for no apparent reason - King Tut by Steve Martin. Most Rotarians received heavy fines.

Proposed new Rotarian: Pastor Gregory Hickman, Pastor at Christian Life Center by J Richey. Greg is a former Rotarian from the East

Program:
Cathy Gach introduced Fullerton High School Speech and Debate Team coach and teacher, Sal Tinajero. Sal informed us that his FUHS students are regarded as 5th in the State and 19th in the Nation. And, they are back to back Orange County Champions. Most impressive! Way to Go!

The Speech Contest theme was Service Over Self and the contestants were Katie Kolar, Denise Gatewood, Bronte Nelson and Regan M. Fallon.
- Katie talked about recycling and how we shape the world around us. We all are part of something larger than us.
- Denise talked about decreasing the suicide rate in the U.S. Help victims of Quarter Life Crisis.
- Bronte talked about letting people that are okay with themselves dare to be themselves. Don’t over prescribe medication.
- Regan talked about exaggeration getting more prevalent in our lives. The media does it, government does it and we do it. Individually, it prevents us from service over self. Exaggeration is equal to lying. Let’s use the energy used in exaggeration to help others.
Judges Randy McFarland, Keith Mills and Jim Young had a very difficult picking out the top two winners as all contestants were terrific. There was little difference between them but they did finally select Bronte Nelson as #1 and Katie Kolar as #2. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the presentations and all were very impressed.

Raffle:
Bill Kincaid
won a $10 consolation prize by not knowing what year the Brooklyn Dodgers of L.A. came to California. It was 1955.

Closing:
We look forwards to how Walt Barnes entertains “Teddy” for the next few weeks.
Jim McKamy will officiate at our next meeting as Joyce will not be available.
Joyce closed our meeting with an Oliver Wendell Homes quote, “A moment of insight is sometimes worth a life’s experience.”
