Dick Mathewson led the club in the pledge of allegiance followed by songsters Howard Wood, Griff Duncan, Bob Savage and Randy McFarland leading the club in “You’re a Grand Old Flag” followed as always by Smile. Mark Geiss gave the invocation today. Pat Tormey introduced members with guest that included Gloria Radde (Husband Bob), Alice Eskes from Belgium (JoAnn Brannock), and Sully, the Principal of Laguna Road School that has just been recognized as a Distinguished School as well as being a Golden Bell winning school (McCune). Announcements: Jack Hayes announced to the club and all distinguished visitors that he had just saved $300 on his auto-insurance. Recognitions: Jack Hayes was fined for making an announcement that had nothing to do with anything! Guest Fine Mistress Maryalyce Jeremiah put her coaching hat and whistle on and fined Randy McFarland for doing everything. Everything, that is, but informing the club of his daughters fantastic finish in the LA Triathlon. Kellie McFarland finished the Triathlon in less than 3 hours and Coach Jeremiah passed out photos to prove it. Randy was fined 10 push-ups for his modesty. Next J Ritchey was recognized for underpromoting his up coming financial seminar for women at the YWCA. His fine was 3 jumping jacks. |
Ken Kaisch was recognized for relocating his domicile to a prefabricated modular country club home. Ken seems to be purchasing this home on an installment plan as photos that were distributed only showed half a home being moved to the home site. His fine was 3 sit-ups which Coach Maryalyce barely qualified. Bill Klinghoffer was recognized for his upcoming 48th Anniversary. Keith Mills had the lucky raffle ticket and answered correctly Prez Joyce question regarding club membership. Program: Our program today was presented by Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher. In light of the recent New Orleans/Katrina disaster, Ms Daucher spoke on the precarious state of the State Water System. She outlined several possible “What if” scenarios and used statistics and probabilities to show how similar New Orleans disaster is to the Sacramento Delta region and the effects such a disaster can have on the southern part of the state. She then outline various bills currently being considered by the Legislature and the Governator. She implored us to understand what a huge issue water constantly is in the state of California.
