On to the Main Event - Senior Craft Talk:

Ray Hansen started out his Senior Craft talk with the song -Lets get away from it all.

Mentioning many city's that I cannot spell let alone pronounce, Ray reminisced his growing up in China, enjoying an all day sucker while hiding behind the Rikshaw Coolies ,which caused his Father to call for a Board Meeting.(Ray seems to remember the Razor Strap and hiding under his bed)

1947 arriving in Hong Kong just in time for Christmas Day.

Some of the fun things Ray fondly recalled was sea mines tearing loose during monsoons and exploding against the rocks, causing shrapnel to tear through their Mosquito nets. Dismantling mines and such, hauling the explosive components up the hill to play with...aahhh...I am sure causing more Board Meetings with his Father. On a sadder note, he also witnessed many of the horrors brought on to the Chinese by the Japanese during the war. Watching bombing raids by the Japanese over the local Chinese Village.

Eventually moving to the states, attending Glendale College, Los Angeles College and USC, Ray started working in the YMCA. Moving from Y to Y helping establish the Local YMCA's, working with the Gangs. Fly Fishing in Yellowstone. During these times in 1957 Ray became a Rotarian, Maintatining perfect attendance has also tried to bring in a new member every year.

Ray eventually went to work for the Group that helped build the Chrystal Cathedral. Retiring in 1978...he then went on to St Judes where he has spent the last 22 years.

I apologize to Ray for any miss-quotes. You have lived a very fascinating life.

Prez Bob conclued with a thought, Do not succumb to pressure, and remember that lumps of coal become diamonds. See you next week.
