Pre-meeting.... Chief Pat announced that Wally Bartelt is currently in the hospital and Pat asked that we remember Wally and family in our thoughts and prayers. Pat awarded another coveted cup and patch to Warren Wimer for his gracious hospitality at his recent fellowship event. ( Allyn Lean also was awarded a coveted cup and patch to show Prez Pat’s appreciation for honcho’ing the effort to provide the Fullerton Interfaith Emergency Services with new refrigeration appliances. Chief Pat finally rang the bell and opened the meeting and asked Dan Kiernan to lead the Pledge and Carl Camp to give the invocation. Leroy Fulton accompanied by Don Ludwig led the club in Craig Walker introduced visiting Rotarians: Bob Harraka (Prez of the Brea Club) and Edward Vincent (also from Rotary announcements: There will be an off site Fullerton Rotary Club meeting on June 17th at the YMCA in Fullerton Sunrise is having a Hoe-down for $40 per ticket on May 16th. Leslie McCarthy announced the Top 100 dinners on May 21st (Sunny Hills) and May 27th ( Minard Duncan announced the Rotary Dental Clinic this Saturday at 10 AM to 1PM at Allyn Lean pleaded that there is still time to submit donations to the International Foundation. Tom Meyer announced Demotion night would be June 24th at 6 PM at the Meridian Sports Club. Bob Harraka reported that the New Generations Club is 4 members short of getting their RI charter.

Finemaster: Bob Clark Junior recognized Allyn Lean and Julie Kemp for their Birthdays and they had to pony up two-dollar fines. Joe Lins had to pony up two dollars for wife Suzy’s birthday plus two dollars more for embellishment! Zoot Velasco was fined $2 for a story in the Fullerton Observer that inadvertently described him as handsome. Lee Brockett, Mark Giess, Bill Hite, Irene Lang, Jim Young, Les McCarthy, and Craig Walker were all harassed for two-dollar fines as well. Wally Swatkowski was lucky enough to win the raffle, but unlucky in choosing Dan Kiernan as a partner and missed the question for $500. Frank Kawase donated a $10 consolation prize. (Pronounced today Kawalski) Maryalyce Jeremiah gave the program today about what is next for her now that she has completed her 44 year career as an NCAA basketball coach and Women’s sports educator and mentor. Maryalyce described her evolving philosophy of life and how she strives every day to live it. She shared her idea of “High Places” and of her commitment to get to her High Place. She has decided to share the lessons she has learned by providing seminars committed to personal and professional growth. Maryalyce gave no small credit to the fundamentals of Rotary and her love and respect for her friends at Fullerton Rotary. Maryalyce has enrolled in Prez Pat closed the meeting with a quote from Chester Nimitz, “God Grant me the courage not to give up what I think is right, even though I think it is hopeless!”
