First in person meeting since Covid! President Ken Kaisch was excited to finally be able to host this meeting in person day. He has been planning since Nov 2019 for this day. On July 1 our Rotarians met for the first time since the shutdown and president Ken announce our fund raiser for the year, a city-wide concert with tribute bands over the course of an extended weekend. By July 2, we were shut back down. We start rethinking what we can do for a fundraiser. Dan Ouweleen and Scott Scambray talk about morphing Fullerton's Got Talent into Fullerton Schools Got Talent. After going on and off with multiple difficulties the idea finally started to take form. Dan Ouweleen goes to his tech crew at PacMin and one of them suggests a platform no one has heard of – Twitch. It works and the show goes on. Oh yes, one last script revision sent out at 4:17, exactly 43 minutes before the start of the show! Yet… the show went on and it was splendid We raised over $30,000 and more checks are still coming in. A standing ovation for Christian Esteban’s committee. Zoot Velasco volunteered his face for a pie throwing to stimulate the $500 sponsorship giving. Around 20 of you responded with great generosity. Zoot, in his last words asked anyone to donate $5000 for a cow pie. Fortunately for Zoot there are no takers. A huge thank you to all of your generosity and thank you to Zoot. Monica Fernandez gave feedback on Love Fullerton event thank you to all Rotarians that volunteered. Miko Krisvoy announced that May 4th is our Fullerton’s top 100 and May 19th is Sunny Hills’s event. She is in need of volunteers Virtual district conference is on May 15th Dan Ouweleen encourages everyone to join and asked everyone to RSVP for his district conference 2 years from now when he is hosting it as district governor. These three truly exemplify Service Above Self! Rotarian of the month award goes to Susan Ouweleen! For our program today, we are honored to have one of our own, Robert Jahncke give his craft talk. Robert was president of our club in 93-94, and has been one of the backbones of our club. Robert was introduced by Jim Williams in the signature Robert Jahncke Hawaiian shirt uniform. Bob joined Rotary in 1985. he said back in the days men were all in suits and ties and there were no women. He's glad to see positive changes made since then. He created our first ever Rotary website and Roster. Bob is also serving on the board of the Boys and Girls Club. He built their first ever auction tracking systems for them. Bob gave a heartwarming account of his life and legacy. Bob said that Rotary brought him some of the happiest times of his life.
