Volume 75 Issue 31 Rota-Scribe: Wolf Knabe

The meeting started off with the pledge given by Scott Dowds, followed by the prayer given by Pastor Greg Hickman. Our song master was Theresa Harvey, who led us in “Daisy, Daisy”, I think that’s what it is called. It wasn’t one of the group’s best performances. They say dogs could be heard howling all the way to Diamond Bar!

Chief Wolf Knabe introduced our guests who included: Christian Angel from Rotaract, Tracey Clark, from Anaheim Hills Rotary, Scott Hedgecock from FHS who brought three of his students to sing for us, and Reina Salcedo from SHHS who brought three of her students to sing for us.

Announcements included:

• The Collage Concert is Saturday March 19th at 6pm CSUF Clayes Performing Arts Center

The Fine Master was Bob Sattler. All were fines were only $2 because he is a nice guy!

Brett Ackerman was fined for his anniversary tomorrow. He said he is not going to do anything on the actual day, but in a couple of weeks they will be going to Mexico. Come on Brett, at least a happy meal on the actual day!

Bill Hite was fined because of his birthday on Friday,

Scott Dowds and Chief Wolf Knabe were both fined for their wives’ birthdays, which happen to be on the same day, February 23rd.

Many were fined for some long lost, dug up pictures. They included Raco, Jeff Hutchison, Dan Fisk, Jim Blake, Dave Bates, Mike Oates, Dan Kiernan, and Carl Camp.

Carl Camp was also fined for his retirement from Eclectic Associates and for bragging about his 3rd child getting engaged on February 7th and his son becoming a Pastor in Park City Utah. Way to go!

Our program featured the wonderful voices and songs from local students at Sunny Hills and Fullerton High Schools.

Scott Hedgecock from Fullerton High School brought his students Josiah, Sarah, and Emma. Reina Salcedo from Sunny Hills High School brought her students, Liz, Christine, and Jedidiah. It was an amazing performance by these talented young people. They received a standing ovation! Reina and Scott both received a check from our club for their programs and a small gift for all they do.

Prez Dick called out the lottery ticket winner, but unfortunately, Diane did not pick the right chip to win the $90. Better luck next time.

A Note From Dave Slomovic:

Dear Captain,

Regretfully I must resign from the Fullerton Rotary. After selling Sunnycrest I tried extensively to find another Fullerton, or at least Orange County, property to exchange into. I was not able to find anything that made any sense in either Fullerton or in Orange County. I ended up with a property in the San Gabriel area. Without any property to work on and living an hour away each way attending the Rotary in Fullerton makes no sense.

The Rotary experience for me has been a wonderful one. First, I needed to learn to present myself formally, especially the Craft Talk, which was a new experience. Secondly, I learned new things each week from the speakers. Third, I was presented an opportunity to reset my mind to think of service, truth, and friendship constantly.

Being a part of Rotary has been a blessing and I am sincerely thankful. I hope to make a trip back next month to personally say goodbye to the wonderful friends I have made. It is with deep appreciation that I thank you for welcoming me and for all the valuable help the Rotary gives those in need.

Sincerely,

David Slomovic
