Club Elections Next week:
J Richey for President 2010-2011
Vote for 3 for Club Director 2009-2011
Theresa Harvey, Bob Hillhouse, Don Ludwig, Drew Napolin, Craig Walker

A “loosey, goosey” meeting was presided over by President Pat today.  He announced that the tradition of Irish Coffee being served on the last meeting day of the year would be continued today and promptly lost the attention of the entire membership.  Don Ludwig, Ray Ashcroft and Jimmy Williams tried to lead us all in “Auld Lang Syne” and “Smile” with mixed results.  A brief (but sincere) thanks was overseen by Carl Camp.

Visitors included:

JoAnn Ludwig who found out it was her anniversary gift from Don.  Mr. Ludwig, we all though your anniversary was August 15th, not only are we now questioning the quality of the gift, but also the timeliness.

Dick Jones’ much better half, Norma was welcomed today.

Cathy Gach introduced us to her husband Don.  They are celebrating the freedom from 2000 highschoolers this Christmas Holiday!

Welcome to all the Rotary spouses and thank you for helping them to be such an active part of our community!

Announcements by Rick Crane:

  • Did we mention that Irish Coffee was being served today?  This was a tradition started by Past President Jim Young and we owe him a sincere debt of gratitude!
  • Fullerton Rotary Club Night will be held at the Titan Gymnasium at CSUF (Yeah!), Wednesday, January 21st, 2009.  Meet at 6:00 in the Gym lobby with game time starting at 7:00.  Come out and watch President Pat as coach for the night!  Call Rick Crane with any questions or to RSVP at (714) 525-0363.  Newest Nine member Larry Bennet wanted to know what was going to be served for dinner and found that he was volunteered to pick up the pizza for 400 people.  Thanks Larry!

Program:

Opening the program was our very own Dr. Jim Young with a poem he wrote entitled What About the Reindeer?  Finding out that they were overall a happy bunch powered by methane gas was a true education for this Roto-Scribe.  A full copy of the poem is available from Jim and it truly was the very best part of this day’s program.   From there we discovered other great facts about various Rotary members that included:

Nate Kvetny who likes sleeping alone, silk pajamas, bass (the fish, not the beer), Bill Gorman and kite tails.  The fact that Vern Andrews gets his comedic material from his Church, so we could not print his joke in the bulletin.  Bill Gorman has a sick horse who likes to drink red wine.  And, Jimmy Williams is spooning with Sally.   Did we mention that Irish Coffee was being served today?
