Announcements:

Anybody who hasn’t turned in his or her District Award paperwork hasn’t been listening to Randy McFarland’s weekly plea.  Randy says that any Rotary minutia that occurs without the proper paper report just never happened in the eyes of the District.  Fullerton Rotary will cease to be the award winning club it has always been if the paper work is never turned in.  So, everybody do the club a HUGE favor and turn in their event reports so that we won’t have to hear Randy beg every week!

Cathy Gach distributed postcards that announced the March 25 Arts Gala at the new Science & Technology building at Fullerton High School.

Kathy Allred is looking for 6 hosting families for the upcoming Group Studies Exchange.  This year the participants are from France.  Call Kathy if you are interested in hosting. (April 24-28)

Rick Crane is still generating interest in the April 2 Titan Baseball day.  Jim Mc Kamy announced that there were not enough people able to sign up for his Day at the Races so his Santa Anita project will be re-schedule for another time.

Walt Barnes explained how important it is to have a strong showing at the District Rotary Foundation Dinner on March 25.  District Governor Bill Peloquin deserves to be supported by his own club during his term as DG.  Walt also shared some tips on selling the Rotary Foundation raffle tickets that he recently sent out.

Nelson Einwaechter, dean of International Student Programs for Hope University, announced a University need of hiring foreign interns during their year following graduation and before they return to their homelands.  Under-grads in the OPT (Optional Practical Training) program can also work in local business or industry.  Nelson says that these students are generally Korean speaking students.

Program:

The program today illustrated the work of two fine programs funded and supported by Fullerton Rotary Club.

First the recent Dental Clinics where 180 children received free dental treatment.  The Man in Charge, Dr. Harris Done, explained the priority was to save teeth from needing to be extracted after showing a slide show that showed the M*A*S*H-like clinic that was set up at the school.

Claude Jones and Bob Clark, Jr. gave a bilingual presentation about El Sausal Orphanage in Ensenada, Mexico.   Bob and Claude had slides showing the projects at the Orphanage that were funded by our Rotary club that included a new electrical substation that combined with a new commercial billing rate saves the orphanage $800 per month. A new septic system has been complete.  Before the completion of this system there was no septic system at all!  Next project at the orphanage is to recondition the well, which will allow free flowing water to the facility that is not able to receive water continuously from the municipal system.
