Prez Joyce convened the meeting after lunch promptly at 12:30 and caught my table-mate Bill Hite with a mouth full of delicious fried banana desert. Bob Foust led the pledge of allegiance before Howard Wood and Randy McFarland led the singing accompanied by Don Ludwig on piano. Mark Geiss gave the invocation and asked that we all appreciate the Rotary blessing in the coming year. John Braun introduced visiting Rotarians that included Bill Gillespie from Fullerton South, and Gregory Hickman from Aloha Sunset (Oregon). Rotarians with guests were Al Triay with wife Paulette. Announcements: Rick Crane is auctioning off the coaching rights for a Cal State Fullerton Women’s Basketball game on Thursday February 2nd which will be Fullerton Rotary Club night (guest coaches will be assisted by your choice of Maryalyce Jeremiah or the winningest Coach in Fullerton Rotary history, Bob Savage. Minard Duncan is looking for a few smiling faces to participate in the annual Dental Clinic on Saturday January 14th. District 5320 matched our club $1500 donation to fund this annual clinic. Jim Young let it be known that Buck Catlin is back in his apartment after a lengthy stay at Park Vista. (GO NAVY!) This is a good sign of improving health. Joyce announced that Bill Klinghoffer is now at home - struggling with the recovery from his back surgery. Please send cards and notes of get well, |
Recognition: Jim Williams recognized Roy Harvil for his annual club visit. Roy gave his annual club greeting and expressed best wishes to all members in 2006. Jim Young was recognized for he and Dottie’s 62nd anniversary. David and Linda Schoen celebrated their 40th anniversary on New Years Eve. His answer for what makes a marriage work - "yes, dear . . ." Bob Foust, John Brown, Bob Savage, Dick Mathewson, Paul Dudley, and Bill Mathy recently celebrated birthdays. Dan Kiernan and Don Bankhead were recognized for recent spousal birthdays. John Phelps had the lucky number and promptly (or was prompted) answered the trivia question to win the money and the Paul Harris DVD. Paul Harris visits Fullerton Rotary Jim Young introduced the program today. Jim gave Paul Harris’ background information that included his youth and his education years. Then Paul Harris took the stage and told of the road from the first Rotary meeting in 1905 to what we now know as Rotary International. |
