Volume 64, Issue 2 Rota-Scribe: Bill Schenk

Sunny skies, high temperatures and warm hospitality greeted Fullerton Rotarians as Prez Greg called the meeting to order in the Patio of the Fullerton police department.

Howard Wood led the club in the Pledge of allegiance and Minard Duncan gave the thought for the day and reminded us that this is Literacy month and of the importance for children to read even though they can be distracted by computers, television, VCR’s, DVD’s etc.

The meeting as usual briefly adjourned for lunch, which was provided “off site” by Charlie and her able crew from Arbor Manor.

Don Ludwig introduced visitors who included guests of Don Bankhead, Pat House, and Franki Berry and Carolyn Tormey. Paulette Triay also attended as guest of the original Al “T”.

The other Al “T” (Al Tetreault) awarded our host Chief Pat McKinley with a Neighborhood Watch photo in honor of the many years Al and Pam Tetrault have lived in their neighborhood kept safe, in part, by the strength of the Fullerton Police Department sponsorship of the Neighborhood watch program. The Photo featured Al T’s dog Travis peering out the window of his former home on Acacia Avenue with the yellow Neighborhood Watch sticker visible.

Bill Peloquin presented Prez Greg with a banner from the South Lake Tahoe Rotary Club that meets Wednesday evening at Harrah’s (Prez Greg was waiting for the usual bucket of Quarters that usually accompanies the S. Lake Tahoe banner, but Dr. Bill failed to provide one).

Finemaster Jim Blackburn is still in Spring Training when it comes to his warm-up jokes (though Jim ascertained the meeting to be a family affair and stuck to golf and lawyer jokes). Blackburn recognized Wally Swatkowski, Wally Bartelt, Bill Peloquin and Nate Kvetney for spousal birthday reminders. Bob Hathaway (75), Scott Dowd (50) and Don Ludwig (71) were recognized for birthdays.

Prez Greg also recognized Al Tetreault, Jim McKamy and Pat McKinley for their special efforts in organizing the meeting at the Police Department.

Greg then introduced Sgt. Steve Matson of the FPD who took the club on a special tour of the new police facility that included photographs taken at the Orangethorpe/Harbor Blvd traffic camera. These photos allegedly included individual pictures of the entire Mathy family.
