A Note on Community Investment Awards for 2008-09

"On behalf of the Community Investments Committee,  The Rotary Club  of  Fullerton Board of Directors, the Fullerton Rotary Foundation Board of Directors, and a new partner, the Orange County Community Foundation, we wish to share this year's  award recipients with you. There were 39 applicants, all of which received various awards ranging from $500 to $1500. A total of $43,900 was distributed of which  55% to Youth, 35% to Community and 10% to Senior activities.

The growth of  the Community Investment Program over previous years (in  2008 - $29,300;  2005 - $24,000)  could be attributed to the practice of making small grants to many applicants where such an award can make a substantial difference in the aims of a not well known local non-profit club.  It is estimated that by our Rotary Club members making personal presentations of checks at  the recipients' meetings we are reaching approximately 20,000 non-profit club members and families. The strong role of OCCF has made this progress possible.
Recipients are encouraged to use this example of a small grant  from Fullerton Rotary and OCCF as what other groups in their circle of supporters might also make.  In making presentations,
our Rotary and OCCF presenters make such suggestions.

A listing of the applicants/recipients and Rotarian sponsors is below. The members of this committee formed a smooth working  team. They have a good "feel" for which activities will make effective use of the grants in achieving the aims of Rotary and OCCF.
